While Steve may be a marketing genius, too bad the rest of the company failed to perform. What a f***ing diaster of a roll-out. Just rewards for the wankers waiting in line either because they have no life or want their 15 minutes of fame.
I'm so with you on that one - I have absolutely no desire to be stuck in line for that kind of reason, particularly since a quick update brings my original phone up to 99% of the same capability.
Right now, my options are to go on Sunday morning (when everyone is in Church), or just head down at some time during the later part of the week.
But, yeah, this week has not been smooth for Apple, to say the least - they have attempted a hugely ambitious series of goals -- what with MobileMe, the new software, the App Store and the new iPhone 3G all launching nearly simultaneously. Nevertheless, everything is coming back on line, and I'm hoping by the end of the weekend, everything will be just fine.
By the way, the sync abilities of MobileMe are simply incredible.. well worth the $99/$69 a year.

DD, there have been rumors floating around that a crack for iphone 2.0 exists, is this true or just rumors? Would be nice if I could upgrade to 2.0 so that I can get the full functionality of MobileMe.

All that is out right now are *promises* and misleading videos - this isn't to say the iPhone 2.0 (the software) won't be hacked - it stands the greatest chance of that happening, simply because the older hardware has DFU vulnerabilities that allow reflashing. Personally, while I'm certain some bad hacks will be released by the 'iPhone Dev team' at one point soon, I would wait a little bit longer for any solution that Zibri might release -- his stuff is solid, and tested for reliability and stability (hence, it takes a bit longer). I would not trust the 'iPhone Dev Team' by a long shot...

You are, of course, entirely wrong about that - see above. Any presumed and promised hacks only apply to original iPhones (first generation) that are looking to upgrade using iPhone Software 2.0 Update.
