Quote: from snpark on 12:32 am on July 15, 2008 and yes its unlocked completely dont worry
Unless you are holding it in your hand, and it is working with your Dubai SIM, I highly doubt that. Furthermore, the key give-away is that you will have it '...in a few weeks...' - Well, why not now? Why not in a few days? Because the seller is hoping for an unlock solution to be available by the time they ship it. The whole business of offering 'unlocked iPhone 3G' phones is causing quite a bit of amusement on a few discussion fora, as everyone is bemusedly wondering who unlocks these phones, since NO UNLOCK FOR THEM exists yet. Jailbreak, yes - unlock, no. Again, they took your money, and are now gambling on availability - no matter what their eBay page says -- it seems you are very naive about these things. Finally, about the whole mail/push issues - just as your Blackberry needs to be on a BBerry Data Plan (whatever your carrier calls it), so does the iPhone need to be on a data plan -- once those are givens, sending email is just as instantaneous, as the connection is just as 'always on' as for your system - that's the whole point of EDGE or anything else being used (Bberry uses EDGE, by the way). iPhone's consumer push is provided through MobileMe, while the Enterprise connectivity is provided via Exchange.

Again, incorrect. The number of folks involved may number in the hundreds. The number of people actively involved in hacking, researching and engineering numbers in the dozens. The number of folks actually responsible for breakthroughs, and on whose works subsequent unlocking software is based on are less than 10, if even that many. You vastly overestimate what's going on with these thing - furthermore, the few breakthroughs are then quickly taken by others, who wrap user friendly guis around them to bring us the jailbreaking and unlocking utilities. But without that handful of essential hackers, none of the subsequent utilities would exist.

Lastly, if you were to provide a link to that fabled eBay power seller with the unlocked iPhone, I'd be able to tell you exactly what it is they are offering.

Hey, anybody knows if APPL has done something to fix that TOTALLY USELESS bluetooth??? I mean, what's the point of having a bluetooth that works only with a headset and cannot communicate even with another iphone, left apart all other brand of mobile phones and devices??? And it seems that there was little improvement on the poor quality of the camera: god those pix sucks big time, it'd be better not to have a camera at all, from a company that has always been very serious when it comes to graphic!

I know exactly why that was done -- a) Bluetooth main functionality is to provide connectivity with a headset. Additional featuritis was, more than anything else, really just added in the usual race to have more bullet points for marketing execs. Yes, it's nice to be able to synch over Bluetooth, but it gets old quickly because it is slothfully slow; Likewise, being able to beam pictures and other media to each other is cute, but it also opens you up to all those nice Symbian virus infections; of course, you can selectively turn BT on and off, as you need it - but run that by me again how that's more convenient? On my Nokia, I ended up always keeping BT turned off, or keeping it not visible, both of which defeat the whole 'everything else' argument of all the things you can do with BT. Now, one feature I do miss, and that would be swell to have, is the ability to take an existing contacts card, and to send it to another iPhone user (I don't really care about exchanging it with any other user), which someone might say BT would be perfect for (kinda like the old 'beaming' the Newton used to be able to do). As it stands, once again, the existing infrastructure of iPhone can achieve that, simply by turning the contact card into a vcf, attaching it to an email, and having iPhone recognize the special attachment upon receiving the email, and offering to add it to the address book - and the special bonus being that vcf format being a standard, it could also be emailed to Nokia and Windows Mobile devices, once they are able to recognize said format. Easy!

You obviously have neither used one, nor applied the iPhone 2.0 software update to an original iPhone -- the quality of pictures the camera takes have markedly improved, which may be attributable to better white balance code implemented. The camera also seems to be able to do a much better job in low light environments (albeit it still requires a steady hand), and shows significantly less noise in the images, now. Not much they can do about the 2mp resolution, but realistically, they can't really increase the resolution, without increasing the size of the camera, and hence, the iPhone. Look up how digital cameras work, if you want to figure this out - it's a catch-22 situation.

Ah, so we're up to page 100...again Apple Inc said it has sold 1 million new iPhones in its initial weekend The suppossed 'first' person in the World to buy 1 was paid by a marketing company to sit outside the shop for a couple nights to guarantee he was first to buy at midnight. Not sure why, maybe he wore their shirt advertising the company. Bound to be have being a television crew around I guess
