Hi! I want to give my TG a old LapTop that I am not using anymore, the spec is pretty OK even if it is a few years old. So then since she is staying in an area that have not any internet cafe's and I want her to be online if she is moving around, seems like she is staying with her parents, sister and grandmother, dah! Anyway anybody know where to get 3G/edge or other solutions that could keep her online? Where to get? Price? Quality?

Thanks in advance!

I am looking for something more like that keeps you always connected if you want. We have it in Euorpe called 3G and EDGE which often is a PCMCIA card you can put in your LapTop and then surf away.

To have acccess on the move either use a connection to her mobile is to supports GPRS/EDGE or buy her a PCMCIA for the laptop. You can get GPRS access with ease in most of the country with 12 Call which is the way I would go on this I think.

I use 12Call GPRS Service 120Hrs a month for 300 Baht. THe key question is does she have a phone that can connect to the laptop (bluetooth). If so all she needs to get get it configured easy to do by most computer shops. Or just PM me and I would be happy to do it for you.

You can buy PC Card Modem EDGE Network (Sierra 775) and using DTAC EDGE Network (499 Bht/month for few hours or 999 Bht/Month for unlimited access). Or Buy any GPRS PC Card without SIM Card if she / you already have one. Also there is CDMA Network at speed 153 Kbps and you can using Hutch CDMA Network service (www.hutch.co.th) and their PC Card. But so far if using Hutch Network too much lag and sometimes it's network going dormant (sleep mode). But I suggest using Sierra 775 with DTAC network much better, coz with Sierra it run faster rather than if you used Sony Ericsson GC85 series.

Right no 3G in LOS yet - maybe next year or maybe a bit after the new airport is ready LOL

Fastest alternative is the Hutch CDMA 2000 & it may also be the cheapest.

If sticking with the standard GSM/GPRS/EDGE network I'd suggest DTAC & any EDGE capable phone like sony ericsson, nokias, data cards etc.

Enjoy & good luck!

Yeah its true,
If want stuck with EDGE better choose DTAC with Sierra Wireless 775 Aircard, one of sales in Fortune Tower told me that he have been test all air card and SonyErricson still lag behind Sierra.

For CDMA 2000x used Sierra 555 aircard, or better get EVDO phone and use Hutch RUIM. I heard from one of Hutch technician, they have some BTS EVDO already in BKK but still in trial / test periode.

But for UMTS/ WCDMA its still far away in the Galaxy :p
