Hi All
I have a Nokia 3315 which I use when I visit Thailand with a 1-2-Call card in it. On my last visit I kept getting advertising messages up on the screen which appeared without a sound and weren't an sms, they were just there instead of the normal screen with signal, battery etc. They promoted songs, radio stations and other stuff I coundn't decifer. It was a nuisance as I didn't know if I'd missed calls or messages till I cleared the spam. Does anyone know what it is and how to stop it. Input much appreciated.

Most Nokias have a preference setting called 'advertising : Yes/No'. It defaults to 'YES' from most providers. You get rid of that crap by setting it to 'NO' (obviously)

Thanks, I had a look in my phone and it doesn't have an advertising option. I'm thinking now it's something to do with a ring tone I subscribed to, but I'll have wait till I return to disable it. As I mentioned the message just appears on the screen, but has no number and you press ok and it disappears. Some of the messages were- 92.5FM followed by two rows of squares and a symbol, or 50 Cent followed by the squares.

Have the same SMS spam b/s. It's just some 1-2-call advertising by some system SMS kinda thing. Nothing to do with ringtones I guess, never loaded any ringtone and have this b/s anyway.
They appear and they replace each other or go by themselves, not listed in your uincomming SMS list, so no big deal.
But nevertheless I would be happy to stop it...
My Siemens mobile has no "Stop advertising" option...

I sorted it out, I contacted AIS who came back and told me I had mLIVE activated, so I've de-activated it in the menu.
