- True. Not likely to change any time soon.
I assume that it comes with iTunes, and that somehow you can use iTunes to load your own content (as opposed to having to buy everything from Apple). But, how do you get the content accessible to iTunes?
- Just like with the iPod and iPhone, you can synch content from iTunes on a PC to the iPad.
- You can purchase and download content from the iTunes store.
- You can purchase and download content from the new iBookstore to be read via the new iBooks application.
- You can install the Kindle app and download books from Amazon.
4) No discussion that I saw as to whether the iPad can join a network and/or have access to a NAS device.
- The iPhone can access NAS devices using an app such as ezShare. So the iPad should too.
5) No report that I saw that listed the video/audio support. flac? wma? mkv? etc. And, for any codex support "missing", do you have to wait for Apple to supply it?

QQ, I have to admit it. I am not sure what there is to be excited about, and I WAS at first (I think because of overspent anticipation). But there are so many limitations (backwards steps) in terms of its capabilities that it makes me wonder how the Mac people think they can sell this as a step INTO the future....
No camera. Yes, no camera. No visual Skyping. Sorry. That's what your lap top is still good for. Oh, that and running more than one application at the same time. God forbid you should want to listen to music at the same time as you are writing that term paper.... No external something or other. Low memory capability. And you start to wonder.
Perhaps the second or third generation will have fixed the problems. Just like the iPhone (I am waiting for the the fourth generation ).
qq, it's a very light weight web-surfing device, and because of it's larger screen size, it means I don't have to pinch and magnify everytime I want to read the page as with the iPhone. This is a great portable viewer for my photo collection too. Anyway, I have always wanted a Star Trek pad, and this is as close as it gets.
With a larger virtual keyboard, it'll be a lot easier to type of course. Though I don't like the omission of the numeric keys in the layout. I guess one has to toggle between the letter and the numbers.
I agree with Quim. I am very disappointed with the omission camera. I wonder which motherf***er decided not to have it built-in. I was so looking forward to the video chat with the iPad. So, that really sucks big time. IMO
