... a best in class little cafe on Soi 1... Elefins... about 200 metres into the soi on the left as you are walking in... about half-way to Bumrungrad Hospital.
... a VERY well done cafe with all the features of a great western-style cafe, but with a distinctly Asian flavor... comfortable Asian furnishings, hardwood floors, great tunes, high ceilings, garden terrace.
... modest, inexpensive menu and bakery offering... they roast their own beans onsite, making a pretty good cup of jet fuel... this is a place to linger and lounge.
... not a particularly good location, but were Elefins franchised, I believe it would rival Starbucks, and blow away other Thai attempts at a cafe... a fabulous concept by someone who 'gets it'.
... and... free wifi.

ICT, AIS launch free Wi-Fi service

ICT ministry and Advanced Info Service (AIS) Monday joined force to launch "ICT Free Wi-Fi for Public" by AIS, featuring free Wi-Fi service nationwide in 50,000 spots as part of the ministry's existing Free Wi-Fi project.
As part of the launch, AIS and its WiFi partner, 3BB, jointly offers their existing Wi-Fi service to serve the project. Users have to log in for passwords and the service of AIS and 3BB each is limited to 5 hours of access per month. People can register at http://www.ais.co.th/ictfreewifi/

Whenever I am in a shopping mall I like to use the free Wi-Fi at Coffee World. They give you a password and you can use it all day if you like. The speed is usually quite good, too and many malls have more than one Coffee World.
The coffee is usually surprisingly good too and they don't serve it in a lousy paper cup.

Dunkin' Donuts has a similar deal. Spent over 100 baht and you receive 2 hours of free Internet provided by 3BB. I believe there is no expiration if you don't login immediately. If you do, you have 24 hours to use the 2 hours.
Speed greatly varies from location to location.
