here's an interesting take on BB handset: Porsche Design P'9981. Restricted edition (whatever that means) and said to retail for 2 grand, US$ that is. Ouch

RIM shares fall to seven year low

Reuters:

Research In Motion shares fell to a seven-year low in Toronto on Wednesday as the market digested further evidence of the smartphone maker’s declining share of the lucrative U.S. market.

How much more evidence do you need?

Meanwhile, economic experts are ready to soak up RIM shares, seeing this as a "buying opportunity" to buy low, and sell once RIM "inevitably" rebounds as soon as they release their iPhone killer.

Any day, now.

read this article: RIM management has to go before it's too late

now what are the odds they get both kicked out at the same time, and if only one has to go, who will be? my money is on Lazaridis, if only because he looks like a spoiled pig with fat fingers

Good question - if the board had a brain, they would kick both out. I think they will do a 'save' and one will 'step down' and assume the role of chairman of the board, and the other will remain as CEO.

In fact, I'd bet on it that this is what they'll do - it's the most classic 'save' in corporate policies, particularly since it achieves nothing.

Good time to short RIM.

RIM Plans to Continue Development of Flash for PlayBook on Its Own ★

iPad rival tablet makers are responding to the Flash news:

Flash support isn’t immediately going away for devices that already have it, but it clearly has lost its luster - RIM, for its part, says it has licensed Adobe’s source code and plans to continue supporting Flash on the PlayBook.

Good luck with that.

Sell. Short.

don't get me started on this one, Flash is Evil

it may be dead on mobile, but unfortunately is still alive and kicking on the desktop, crapping my Safari. It's about time lazy web designers start programming, more and more, in HTML 5

Sarge,

Install "ClickToFlash" as a Safari Extension. Your Safari will breathe a sigh of relief.

That said, you can pretty much assume that Flash on the desktop is as good as dead as well - Adobe is investing heavily in HTML5 design tools, and as soon as those are viable, will deep-six Flash on the desktop as well. I give it, at most, one more year, if not less.

They are already stressing Flash as a means to create native apps (good tool, technically), but I see that migrating to Adobe Air in the short to mid run.

Basically, I'm guessing that the day Adobe announced the death of Mobile Flash, Apple saw a spike of downloads of their iOS development kit.

.... and that's it. Until then, find "ClickToFlash" here:

https://extensions.apple.com/

Also, install AdBlock while you're at it. Also nice
