I agree, if Westerners were the main concern, which was Nic's point.
May I extend upon that by saying that maybe there is a socio-sexual Japanese cultural reason for a percentage of their customers not to complain, as this stance and attitude maybe has its roots in their needs.
Maybe I'm talking through my hat, since I know nothing of Japan nor the Japanese, but my impression from watching hours of Japanese porn, is that there is a heightened sexual delight felt by a number of males in Japan if the lady in question experiences discomfort,pain, humiliation and degradation, hence the annoying high female yelps at every male thrust in a Japanese porn movie.
Is it true that for the majority of Japanese women, in order to re-affirm for the male their superiority and dominance in society, there is a requirement to display a distain for anything sexual and that sex or making love is abhorant to them,thus giving any ordinary encounter a flavour of unwanted intrusion ?
Presumably there is the thrill to break the social taboos of a highly conservative and straight-laced society, which the old Japan most certainly was.
This is also not to say that you don't now have for the last 20 years, ladies who are able to show that they love sex, in many ways, in many forms and with many guys, but that too is a liberating display from the old chains of traditional fake Japanese puritanism.
Ravaged innocence also seems to be high on the list of requirements, as do movies such as displaying a female newsreader being ejaculated upon by about 40 guys while she is reading the news or having to blow guys and getting f***ed whilst still reading the news,and all done without a giggle or a smile and followed by the weather report.

Back to Angels. But maybe one or two things might relate to ladies with attitude not being complained about, if a sour attitude appeals to a certain section of the clientele.

Went to Angels last weekend for the first time in 3 years. After I had picked my girl, the cashier showed me a total of 2520 baht on her calculator. 1000 massage + 20 for my drink + 1500 for special. Madfrog,isn`t Angel simply saying "We are a massage shop whose primary aim is to service the Japanese customer who prefers a package price."
No doubt the management of Angel Massage have done their sums,and are aware that,on average,the Japanese are prepared to pay more than the average Farang customer.
Package upfront pricing has been the norm at Angel for about 2 years,and I assume it has prooved to be profitable.
Angel`s attitude clearly is either Farangs accept its Japanese business model,or they go elsewhere as I have.

This upfront payment system seems to be targeted at the Japanese clientele who are used to this system. In fact, I have heard from a girl who had a Japanese customer leaving without paying for the FS fee (this was before this new payment system was implemented), as he probably thought that the massage fee included all the specials.
It's highly probable that most of their clients are Japanese anyway, so they couldn't care less if they didn't get anymore farangs, and they'd still be prosperous for years to come. Don't think they'd fold anytime soon.
