Angel has had a Japanese business model,incorporating an all inclusive upfront service charge,for at least the last 2 to 3 years.
The Japanese prefer such a charge because most of them dislike negotiating directly with the girls for extras.Most also dislike being placed in a position where a tip might be expected.
While there have always been Thai P4P establishments which have catered more or less exclusively for the Japanese,I have noticed an increasing tendency for those Thai P4P establishments which in the past have catered mostly for Westerners,either adopt a Japanese business model,or while retaining a system which allows customers to negotiate directly with the girls for extras, do their best to attract both Western and Japanese customers.If this results in some reduction in the number of their Western customers it is compensated by the increase in Japanese customers.
It is hardly surprising that Thai P4P establishments want to attract Japanese customers.They tend to be more polite,are less demanding,have better personal hygiene,are more generous,and treat the girls with more respect than Westerners.
Rather than abandoning places such as Angel to the Japanese(although I am most reluctant to patronise any P4P establishment that requires an all inclusive up front payment) it would be wiser for Westerners to make themselves more attractive to these establishments by at least improving their attitude in terms of politeness,personal hygiene,and respect for the girls,while not trying to become Japanese clones.

Most of the gals I talk to like the Japanese for one reason, and that is money. Most are less polite (or so say the gals) and yes, they do demand less and are likely to accept what they get. Not real good for the market or for the attitude of the service providers who get more for providing less and then this becomes the standard.
Truth be told there are more Japanese here than Westerners and that is why the establishments cater to them. It is simply an economic decision.
For me, I don't like the Japanese "style," I want an active intense session, I don't want to lay there passively while a gal services me as many of our Japanese brethren do. Westerners want GFE/PSE all rolled into one and I am glad that some places still provide that.

Goatscrot while I also want a GFE,and do not want Japanese influences to reduce my chances of obtaining it, I am afraid it is simply not the case "there are more Japanese here than Westerners and that is why the establishments cater to them".
In 2011 1.12 million Japanese tourists came to Thailand compared to 854064 Australians,844221 from the UK,and 684073 from the USA.In addition there must have been at least 500000+ from France,Germany,Italy,Spain,and the rest of the EEC.
No the fact is that the Japanese punch well above what their numbers would suggest, at least in Bangkok,and to a somewhat extent in Pattaya.
Surprisingly Malaysia at 2.47 million contributes the largest number of tourists,but they tend to limit themselves to Southern Thailand,and in particular Hat Yai.
The Russians number 1.01 million,but they tend to favour Pattaya.
But it is the Chinese who are likely to have the most influence on the P4P industry in Thailand in the next 10 to 20 years.In 2011 1.76 million Chinese visited Thailand.It is inevitable that their numbers will increase dramatically,and that a disproportionate percentage will be sex tourists, because China`s one child policy has resulted in the birth of many more male babies who will not be able to find wives.China`s increasing wealth will enable many of these "forced bachelors" to visit Thailand regularly.

I believe that the majority of customers to the oilies are locals.
If you check your stats you will see that Japanese on work permits far outnumber any other group. In 2007 there were 24,000 which is in excess of 20%. I think the next largest group are Koreans at under 11,000.
Those are the guys that frequent the oilies for a quick get away from the wifey.

Goatscrot,I have some difficulty in accepting that Thai P4P establishments source most of their Japanese customers from the 24,000 or so that hold work permits for these reasons.
(1) While I can accept that most married men occasionally commit adultery the constraints of most domestic situations make it difficult to achieve on anything like a frequent,regular basis,and,of course,there are a small, but surely not an insignificant number of married men, who seldom or never stray.
(2) Even if a significantly larger percentage than one would expect of the 24,000 have the inclination,stamina, and opportunity to patronise P4P establishments on a very frequent basis their numbers are dwarfed by the 1.12 million Japanese tourists(of whom they represent only 2.14 percent).Of course not all Japanese tourists are sex tourists,but even if a very conservative 10% are,they would outnumber the 24,000(not all of whom would be players) by 4 to 1.
I realize this discussion is taking place in almost a statistical vacuum when it comes to reliably assessing what percentage of work permit Japanese,and Japanese tourists, participate in the Thai P4P industry,but the very small number of residents compared to tourists makes it highly unlikely that it is the residents who are the mainstay of Thai massage shops.

I have a question for our experts / veterans.
Goatscrot seems to say that the Japanese style is to lie passively while being serviced by the girls. What does that mean ? and how does he know that this is the Japanese style ?

The hugely popular Angel is fast becoming essentially a Japanese style locale. I was there the other day, there were two Japanese looking through the books. I went there to book Kristen but when I asked for Kristen they pointed to three different girls with the same name. I selected the prettiest but I left when they insisted on full payment upfront.

Haha...I think both variations (the 3 and the 4) have existed in BG folklore for a while now, simultaneously. the 4,4,4 version has the added humor that when the number "4" is pronounced the Thai way, in Lao it means "to f***," and we all know how they love a good play on words (in Thai, "4" is a low tone, in Lao "4" is a mid tone...when you say the word with a low tone in Lao, it's a crude word for f***ing)
