hi guys iv got a lil problem here iv been in thailand for over a month now im on a tripple entry visa form the uk. my problem is that when I arrived at bkk airport the girl who stamped my passport stamped the visa "USED" in error to fix this she simply scribbled a few lines through the offending "USED" the panic on her face when she made this mistake however leeds me to believe that this will not be sufficient.... basickly I need to know am I going to have a problem when I do my visa run in just under 4 weeks? if this has happened to anyone else id like to know what happened. reply here or email me at bluedevil79@hotmail.com any help gladly recieved (hopeing I dont have to hand over thousands of baht to some dubious thai border official :S ) btw im in pattaya so if theres a local office I can pop in and someone knows were it is that would be cool

Cock ups in Thailand are hardly unknown. Your best bet is to coordinate with Immigration and get a phone number that a border Immigration post can ring to check your story.
There is an Immigration Office in Pattaya (somewhere on 2nd road I recall) and you could pop in and explain to them. Get the officer's card at the same time just in case.
If they catch you in a sweep of Pattaya with an out of date or defective visa you could be banged up but it would be most unusual for a voluntary visitor to the office to be treated this way.
Talking about routine sweeps and banging up I am told by a Nigerian contact (yes, him of the credit card cons) that the police in Pathumwan and around Nana are rounding up black people and hauling them off to Lumpini police station regardless of any documents they have with them.
If they can get someone to come to the police station and vouch for them they are released. If they argue they are thrown out of the country. Many end up deported.
I always take anything a Nigerian says with a liberal dose of salt but there have been pictures in the Post recently of large numbers of Africans rounded up and held at Lumpini so I am inclined to believe him.
And why is this? I am told that they have been making fake visas, work permits etc. in Suk Soi 3 and the police now do not believe any documents a black person holds until verified at Immigration and Labour Dept.

I know it's too late now, but why would you not call over a supervising officer at the time and get verification of the error, and a couple of badge numbers for reference later?
Rather than get local officials involved maybe you should day trip back to the airport and get the problem solved at the source. The hand written addition (or is it just lines?) on the visa might be easy to track down relative to the officer involved.

Immigration is located on Soi 8, Beach Road. Enter Soi 8 from Beach Road and Immigration is in an alley just across from the Flipper Lodge, about 50 meters off of Beach Road.
Dress nicely and go in and talk to them. They are normally very helpful and should be able to sort out your problem.

FM is right but this may be a long trip for you. The officer normally signs the stamp so it should be a simple matter for Immigration to track down the officer IF THEY THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM.
I have always found Thai officials to be friendly and flexible if approached in the right way. A smile, neat dress, mouthwash and being pleasant often means more than being in the right.
Still worth trying Immigration first IMHO.
Thaidup, you are absolutely right. But why has it taken until now?
From time to time stories crop up in the press of poor innocent Thais who have been scammed by Africans.
My favourite was a story about 4 years ago involving the special paper trick. You take a specially coated paper and press it against a real US$100 bill. Hey presto it copies it and is indistinguishable from the real thing. Excellent way of making your own money.
However it only works once on each bill so they need someone to supply US$100 bills they can copy and they will split the proceeds.
A Thai lady lodged a complaint with the police that she had handed over US$100,000 and they had kept it. She was claiming the US$100,000 plus her share of the copied money.

I'm not sure but I think at immigration in BKK I even saw a counter for wrong stamped visas from the airport. So
this seems to happy many times and the immigration
will correct it.

You better fixed it before you make your visa run.
That is if you're leaving through another port than the airport.
If the officer at the exit port doesn't like what he sees he might sent you back to the port of origin (don muang).
Happened once to a guy who was going on a visa run to Penang and was sent back from Hat Yai to Don Muang. In his case the officer had totally forgotten to stamp his entry and he hadn't checked...
The Hat Yai border (Sadao) official reasoned that if you never came in the country how can you go out?
