I'm moving to Bangkok next month and looking at renting a house rather than stay in hotels, serviced apartments etc.
If anyone knows of a 1 or 2 bedroom house, partially furnished with the essentials, the area is not important although it would be better to be near a Skytrain or Subway station and with a monthly rent of 8/10000 baht I'd be grateful if you could point me in the direction or any other help would be great.

Thanks,

R

Dream on...

Dont think you will find a house near a BTS or underground for less than 25-30k/month.

Not completely true.

If you look careful in sois near BTS station (noticebly Prakanong as far as I know) there are quite a few (older) houses available for 5-10K/month.

Get a Thai girl, buy a Classified Real Estate magazine (40 baht) and hunt!

Donno about a house, but you could get a condo in some places reasonably near the BTS (and probably the underground) for that amount of money.

Do a search on this site - I did a few months ago and quite a few places in that range came up. Dunno what the quality is like, but with respect to Abrak, 25 - 30k gets you prime location, splendid apartments by Western capital city standards, 15 - 20k gets you fairly close to BTS and normal kinda Western capital city place (but with pool, basic gym, etc), 50 - 70k gets you the sort of thing only millionaires live in the west, so 8 - 10k I would have thought, could get you something basic yet very livable in.

Hope this helps.

8-10k can certainly get you an apartment near the BTS. A house I dont think so... but if you look hard enough??

You may find something for that price, but you may not want to live in it. For a house in that kind of location, you would need around 15-20, that would still be a small house. I pay 30k for a 3 bedroom house near bts and subway, but got it a few years ago now, so was a little cheaper then.

You can find a townhouse in teh Rajada Area with relative proximity to Subway and BTS for about 10,000 Baht which would be right on a busy street. A friend of mine rents such a house. It has 2 stories, living room and kitchen downstairs, 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom upstairs. But I would not want to live there as it is right on the street and if you get out of the house you must be careful or you get killed by a motorbile taxi Also in the On Nut area you can find plenty Small houses for about that price.

Abrak - there are plenty houses advertised in BTS areas for that price, just need to look in the Thai Real Estate Magazines (there are quite a few)

Forget to look in the Bangkok Post as there you will not find anything in your price range, at least not often.

cheers

I've recently moved into a very nice town house in a quiet sub-soi (cul-de-sac) five minutes walk from Phra Ram 9 tube station. 10,000B/month (first water bill just arrived--119B) on a one-year contract. I can get broadband and cable TV (haven't yet, though). Tescos is just around the corner, Carefour (sp?) and Robinsons just up the road. Makes me wonder why I moved from Elephant and Castle (Oh yeah, I remember!)

Good decorative order, nice tiled floors (and some nice parquet floors upstairs), two beds, two bathrooms, three aircons, two rooms downstairs and kitchen. Two balconies (nothing much to see from either...)

Would never have found it without my Thai partner's excellent grasp of the Thai language. All the bargains are in Thai-language weekly mags (like Dalton's Weekly) but we found this one from a sign on a lamp post...written in Thai, of course.

This is an old thread. Did a search but got this one. The deal mentioned in the last post sounded very good. I might be looking to rent a house soon with similar specs. Anybody got any further info?

Thanks.

Try checking on the apartments near the On Nut BTS, opposite Lotus Tesco. I heard from a TG that the rent goes for about 6-8 K/month. In fact, you could even buy the unit for about 250,000 B. Unfortunately, I do not have her number (how could this possibly be?!), so I can't contact her again.
