Another option up North [NE actually] is the Mukdahan-Savannakhet crossing. You could get a visa stamp from the Thai consulate there. While your at it, give us an update on the Mukdahan Bridge to Laos. Supposed to be done soon...

Best place to get a Non P in SEA is Saigon.....the only Thai Consulate where they give you a Multi Non B without any problem (when you have all supporting docs) and not only a Single entry....just ask them and pay the 150USD fee and that's it...next morning you go and pick up your passport....
Costs to ge to Saigon for a couple of days are very reasonable and the city is lots of fun!

You can get an Internet Visa for around $36 USD (paid by Credit Card) with in 2-3 days plus pay your $25.00 USD on arrival (with 2 photos although they only use 1??) as the easiest way in to Vietnam for most Western Nationals! Not quiet Visa on arrival but cheaper & easier for most than going though the Embassy!

ok, I found half a dozen places on the net that serve up visa on arrival
any of them that someone here has used ?
I worry about getting ripped off, and so far I've not seen any that would take credit card details...
