and another advantage is that you are not locked into LOS... you can go anywhere are long as you are able to travel every 6-8 weeks for a couple of weeks...... keeps all the options open, and keeps your earnings coming in.....

I'm still around after 13+ years but it's getting more and more difficult to get Work Permits and even find decent paying jobs in LOS
Work Permits are usually just trivial, but lately the salaries being offered are borderline pathetic for local hire expats.
I got lucky with my current job and it's got a defined end date so it's time to start looking over the horizon for the next stint
anyone have any info about jobs in Oil & Gas abroad ?
I was applying myself over and over on KBRJobs.com but to no avail and to some other contractors working in Qatar and other wealthy M-E countries but still not more than just intermediate interviews by telephone.
tips, suggestions or contact info is gladly appreciated either by PM or right here on this thread.
I prefer not to work in LOS, but rumor has it that being resident in LOS is a bad mark for the headhunters, i.e. they think ALL LOS expats are piss-heads and fanny-rats

LY,, HEAPS of work available in Aus. Yep mining boom and all that. Depending on your qualifications, no problem starting at US$150,000 plus.
Most of the major mines are up north ( more accurately north west) and puts them very close to LOS for when you miss one of your Gik's.

a friend of mine is doing something similar in Laos and making a heap of money at it too
some other friends are on the Woodside project (Western Oz, I think Perth), they've even got some things being worked on here in LOS

Young guys from my town twenty year olds are pulling 100kAUD whats that about 93kUS a year and that's for just driving a Fricken Truck
Thats the starting wage
Only down side is its HOT 36cel plus and you Can't drink!
I met many a lad at the Down Under Bar and they love it, work long shifts for six weeks than straight to BKK for a f***fest and for a week or two.
