...and that person can now perform their job without having to leave their offices... of course, what the point of all this is, fails to impress on me, but hey, it's kinda cool that they are pretending to embrace technology.

Hi Guys Im in a bit of a fix and confused about visa regulations having read numerous things on the net. Basically, it seems I may need a hip replacement and have decided to do it in Bkk. Normally I get visa on arrival and do the visa run if required. However, this may not be possible from a hospital bed So if I appply for a 60 day tourist visa with multiple entry will I still be able to do a visa run (should be able to walk by then) and get another 60 days? Damn Im confused...im not thick honestly LOL. By the way, I have a British passport. Many thanks in advance and hope to see some of you guys again before they start hacking at my leg.

On thing many people do not know....samitivej Hospital has an immigration 'clinic' every Thursday for patients who are unable to leave, but I believe people can even walk in off the street. You might contact them and explain the issue and see what they say, I have always found immigration here to be excellent when dealing with legitimate long term cases. Immigration to me on my return to Thailand last week. "Ah Mr ****** will you be staying the full year this time?" Me "Yes, I think I will be" There you go...October 2007. What's a visa run?

OK.... the final words about this: The new regulations only affect people on a VOA (Visa on arrival). Peopler with a visa (TR or Non-B) are not affected and multiple entries can be used as before. VOAers can stay only 90 days out of 180 days in Thailand. Then you have to get a 'real' visa abroad. A TR would give you another 90 days... to complete the cycle where you start all over again...

Bumrungrad offers the same service - they have an immigration counter upstairs, manned on a regular basis (I think weekly, as I recall) in the same area where you normally check in.

Technically speaking, the VOA dilemma, as many consider it, really is not that difficult to work through, or around, with a minimum of dedication. I mean, figure out how much is being spent on a visa run every 30 days - usually, roughly 2,000-2,500 Baht. By going to an outside consulate, you can get yourself a 60 - 90 day visa (depending on how you tackle it). If you plan carefully, you can fly to Singapore (or cheaper destination) hang out for a few days, and return with a REAL visa, for about the same amount - and less headaches for the duration of the visa, and subsequent extensions. Just takes a little effort.

The trouble is some guys have wifes/TGF's who will not give them a hall pass for them to leave the country more than a one-day border run. Sorry lot they are, bunch of Sheila's! So Singapore would be out of the question from them. I heard Vietnam is a good place to go for a few days.

yes, Vietnam, specifically Saigon (HCMC) was nice for a couple days unfortunately they no longer issue the one-year multiple entry Non-Imm B, only the 90 days single entry and Necro, I think they have a special visa for medical purposes why don't you get a f***in' proper visa before arriving instead of that shitty VOA ?

Saigon is expensive option, airfares there are nowhere near as cheap as Singapore etc. Its actually a lot cheaper to fly to Hanoi than Saigon. Please proove me wrong as I am planning a side trip into Nam January. Mel

not when they were handing out one-year multiple entry Non-Imm B visas, but like mentioned before, that time is over
