Yes, I came here on a TR last week. No ticket was asked for.
Agreed, let them get a TR. And then a Re-entry when they fly out to Singapore. If they remain for less than 90 days (including their visit out of Thailand) they should be OK.
Then you can handle the whole trip before leaving and no visa runs are necessary.

If you enter on a visa (any visa), your visa expires.
E.g If you arrive in Thailand on a TR visa (60 days) but leave wthin this time period, you can not enter Thailand on the same visa.
You have to apply at Suan Phlu for a re-entry so you can come back on the same visa. Then extend it when the total of 60 days are up.
You can get re-entry visas on TRs as well as Non Im B/O.
In Seajohn's parents case, if they leave for Singapore, they have to either apply for a new TR or enter Thailand again with confirmation of a ticket out.
It all depends when they leave for Singapore.

Ah, thank you. I was unaware that you could get a Re-entry Visa on a Tourist Visa (I thought only on Non-Imm's). Well, that makes it easy.
They can get a TR before they leave the US. Then get a Re-entry when they want to go out and come back in (probably about mid-way through their trip, so it should work).
A couple years ago they came out here for 3 months and we took trips to both China and Siam Reap--Did the whole visit on non-entries. Those were simpler times.

It seems you can apply for a reentry at the airport too.
"Re-entry permits can be obtained at Suvarnabhumi airport from the desks located in the area just before passport control. The desks are behind the glass screen so will not be visible from the check in hall. Please ensure you take 2" photos with you to the airport, as photo services are not available.

Yes, you used to be able to do it at Don Mueang Airport as well. I guess you just need to get to the airport with plenty of time...

I was just wondering if anyone of you know if one can do a visa run to the three Pagoda Pass (crossing over to Myanmar).
Beeing in the Kanchanaburi area that would be convinient.

If so, you could just apply for a multiple entry Tourist Visa when you apply in the USA. Maximum of 2 entries, at $30 an entry. Just put a "2" where it asks "Number of entries....." in section 1 and pay the correct amount.

You might first ask yourself if they allow foreigners to come in on a 'visa on arrival'....
It used to be possible at Mai Sai (North of Thailand).
