Looking to overstay on my next trip 11 days over the normal 30, total stay 41 days.

Can I simply go to Thai Immigration office and get an extension for 15 days or is that only possible for 10 days.

What would be required in the way of paperwork other that passport, is it a fairly simple process or an all day wait?

Last time I paid the 8 day overstay fine at the airport and was told it was no problem and would be no hassle when I next return,................but reminded that if meeting the boys in brown during my 8 days over I would have been arrested and face a court hearing, so I dont fancy taking the risk this time.

Depends which part of the world you're from.

It's a simple hour affair depending on the crowd. Just need to fill in a form, fix on your photo, zap your passport and pay THB1800, No worries, photographers and photocopiers all over across the road from the Imm. office fighting for your attention if you don't have any of the above. No one will help with the THB1800 though.

=P

Thanks FactorX,

I am from the UK, so basically I need a copy of passport and an additional passport photo which guess I can bring with me.......and the money so that will get me 15 days extra.

NO!

With a VOA (Visa on Arrival) you get 10 days max! Longer extensions are not possible with that visa (THB 1,900).

But even with that restriction, only 1 day overstay is not a risk at all.

no interest in a visa-run huh? the bussride I had on my adventure to cambodia was rather long, wet (aircon dripping on my head), boring, but still worth getting the visa right I thought at the time....maby not but I didn`t think there was a way around it.

Dr Love's advice is spot on. Automatic ten day extension, and the 11th day will not be a problem.

Of course, you could just apply for a 60 day tourist visa before you leave the UK. Simple to do.

do not take the risk and 1 day can be a problem if you meet the wrong person.

Hello Doc, as you seem to be a very knowledgable fella on VISA's, may I assume an overstay of 4 days would not really be a problem ??

Or would it be wise to apply for a 60 day visa from the Thai embassy here in Australia.

My last trip I overstay 1 day (to my surprise when I was told by customs on my way home) and the cute office just smiled and said no problem.

Next trip in Nov is looking like it will go for 34 days.

I won't say it's not really a problem. Let's say it shouldn't be a problem.

I myself have had numerous overstays (up to 7 weeks) in the last 2 years. Just pay up and you're good to go (and return).

However, it is possible that in this overstay period you get an accident or get hassled by immigration during a bar raid.

Then you could be in trouble, but the risk this happening is quite small....
