Last week the regulations for visa exempt stamps (better known as visa on arrival) have changed.
If you enter Thailand from a neighboring country, the validity of a visa exempt stamp is now 15 days for those which used to get 30 days.
It is not sure if the 90 days within 180 days rule still applies and/or this also is valid for arrivals on airports.

A government in disarray, a temporary PM, a massive loss of income in recent weeks due to the airport closure and now some bright spark implements this !?! It doesn't affect me in any way, but what a dumb ass thing to do when they should be encouraging people to come and stay/spend all their money !
I wonder how many more PAD dreams will be realised in coming weeks.

Just to be fair, though -- I have a feeling that they aren't necessarily encouraging traffic from the type of folks mostly targeted and affected by this - this is mostly geared towards visa runners, not regular tourists.
You can still get regular durations with a regular visa, it seems.

I just checked with the website of the Thailand embassy and see no change on the exemption visa...but maybe this does not apply to me, I got Dr Love on ignore so I cant read his post...

Luckily I can’t read the Doc’s post either. But I have heard about the changes to the entry stamps.
The basic deal is that all land boarder crossings by farang will lead to 15 day stamp rather than the standard 30 day stamp. Fly-in and you still get the 30 day stamp. I have heard from a few folks that have done recent crossings and most confirm they got only 15 days, but a few did get 30 days.
Generally speaking I agree with Meaty – right now the Thai government needs to be doing things to try and get more people to travel to Thailand, not make it harder for ANYONE to come and stay as long as they like.

The plan is likely to get rid once and for all of all the farang low-life who stay in Thailand by doing visa runs, only problem is that its going also to ruin the plans of many people who plan to stay in Southern Asia and base themself in Thailand...who will likely decide to base themself in another country to avoid the hassle...
Thailand hav money too mut, and too mut toorist too, so no poblem, make farang loose time pay money for visa vely good!!!

Yes, of course this is aimed at the border runners (of which army I was a member of not too long ago).
