Hi,
Would anyone know if a TG currently living in France with a Titre De Sejour (10 year card - not 1 year), is able to vist the UK ?
Help really appreciated !!

RL> I may be wrong, but my impression is once in the EU you can go anywhere you want inside the EU, no additional visas required, however the NAZI border guys in the UK have final say, and if they haven't been laid by a hottie in a while, they make take personal pride in denying yours entry !

Citizens of many Asian countries require an UK visa irrespective of the fact that they have a Euro visa / Resident permit, this I am sure was in place till Dec 2009, not sure if this has changed since then.

With a French carte de sejour, you can travel freely in any other Schengen area state (albeit not reside in them for more than 3 months). UK being outside of the Schengen area, a French carte de sejour will be useless. As she is Thai, a visa is required.

Thanks for the replies people.
FIB - are you 100% sure ? She seems to think having checked in France that she can use for all EU Countries, of which UK is one. I think she needs a Visa, she is insisting no...

Romeland all the info is on the web the link from FIB looks spot on.
Anyway I can answer this a thai living in europe can travel to almost all of europe except the uk without a visa.
The wife has lived in central europe for 10 yrs and we went to london 2 yrs ago getting the visa was almost as hard as the one to get her into europe in the first place.
Even though its a 6 month visa I applied for it seems
paranoia is abound and the authorities think everyone wants to stay in the UK.
The only consellation is its free for EEU nationals applying. But they want to know everything about you
bank account, salary very boring.
Its only I have family there otherwise I would not have bothered, has something to do with a natural border.
We went with our son with the euro star and in brussels I had to fill in another form at the border before we got on the train. So she wont even get on the plane or boot without a valid visa.
Learning the local language can entitle them to a european passport its easier but try telling a thai girl that. Me I speek tinglish why I hab to learn talk
new language go to school when I can watch thai tv
talk thai people falang bah talk too muk.

schengen is for schengen countries
uk and even eire (southern ireland) require a seperate visa
i have heard from many sources that easiest way for schengen visa is through a german embassy - very efficient, quick, not much needed
italy and spain are slow
you might need to book your original flight and hotel for a german city but then change that later
it seems once you have a visa it doesnt mean you have to stop in the issuing country first
once u have a schengen, then apply for a uk visa - its easier once u have the schengen one
then once she has a uk visa, apply for a usa one - again its a pecking order - the more senior the visa the easier it is to get the next one higher up the list
ie u have no chance of a usa visa on its own, if she has already been to uk and europe its a lot easier
