Hi all
I saw this post.......
"Now the government are bringing in minimum wages of 30-60,000 Baht per month for foreigners."
Anybody knows whats the crack with this? what happens to all the english teachers on 18-25K a month.

To expand on what VancouverJay has said :-
In actual practice the Thai Govt. doesn't care what you "pay" the foreigners on your payroll.
However salary tax and Social Security payments will be calculated on the "stipulated" salary.
Also Companies will have to show in their accounts that this "stipulated" salary has actually been "paid/received".
Of course, many Companies will just compensate the foreign employees for the additional salary tax/Social Security payments and do some creative accounting to take care of all the above without actually increasing salaries.

To get a retirement visa you need around $1600USD per month and you have to pay taxes on that amount.
