Yawn, as you can see it's dated September, nothing new here that hasn't been discussed before in detail.
Scare stories and stuff like this come and go every few years, nothing ever really changes that much, a few thousand dollars extra to show blah blah....seen it before, will see it again.
Nobody's going anywhere.

I doubt whether any foreign bar owners have a work permit to run a gogo bar. This field does not seem to be on the Thai's government wanted list
Hence, the need for some Thai partners or managers.
Since you would unlikely get a work permit you would not be able to get a long term VISA (one-year), so you would have to get the 90-day, 30-day VISA'a and do the VISA runs and make yourself scarce when an officals show up if you happen to be working.
This is where careful selection of Thai managers comes in. If you happen to get them upset with you in the future, they will turn against you and report you to the authorities and you ass gets booted out of the country.
The above scenario has happen to a number of people in the past and guess who gets to keep the business??
A lot of people have busted the balls many times of the owners of the Crown Group and Boss Hog, but standing on the other side of the bar and dealing with these issues would also put you in a different frame of mind.

Exactomundo... You'd be amazed how many bar owners are on a tourist visa or a "pseudo-business visa".
The reality is, all farang bar owners can get their bars taken away in a split second with no recourse. Entertainment licences are exhorbitantly costly and you'd have to have the right connects plus a 4-leaf clover birthmark and a golden buddha dangling from your earlobe...
IMHO, we'll be seeing sh*tloads of changes after the subway is implemented and functioning. Zonings will happen and the fortunate survivors will most likely be the Thai bar owners...
