Hello forum brothers -- A quick question from a newbie who recently moved to Bangkok and is looking for an apartment. A friend suggested I take a look at Grand Hi-Tech Tower in Ekkamai Soi 23. I know a lot of farangs live there, and I was wondering if any forum brothers do, or if you have had experience or recommendations/reservations about the place? The price and location seem about right, but wanted a second or third opinion before making a commitment Thanks for any help.

Don't know your standards, but IMHO, the place sucks big time! I know it very well cuz my office is in Ekamai and I've been there with a friends of mine looking for accomodation.....rooms are old, very "essential" - call it Thai style - all the place is running down hill......ok, locationwise is decent....some nice Thai & farang girls living there tough..... You can get a one bedroom apt starting with 6k/month...more or less.....

Grand HI-Tech Appartment on Ekkamai SOi 23, was the very first Appartment Building I lived in for 7 months when I moved to Bangkok Rents for single room is about 7K +2K extra. They also have larger apartments with build in Kitchens for about 12-18K per month. There is a swimming pool on top. Back when I was staying there they had a tropical Bar on the roof, but that was '99 can't say if its true anymore. The roomservice they have is decent and good since it is run by a small brit bar on the ground floor. http://www.grandhitechtower.com/ I find that a lot of English teachers have stayed at that place. Your next choice up the food chain would be Boss Tower on Rama IV Road. http://www.bosstower.com Butz

Went to see a room for 5k a month a few months back and wasn't impressed at all! Location: at the end of Suk 63, which means only 5 min. with a crazy motorbike taxi through the end less traffic jam. Rooms: Agree with caronte, old and run down. BTW: How is business? Gym: very old gear and facility Pool: Very small Also, the place is close to a canal and you can get on a boat and be pretty quick in Pratu-nam. However the BTS Ekkamai station is really far. Again, for anybody looking for apartments in Bkk. Just get off any Skytrain station and ask the first Motorbike Taxi driver to show you apartments in price range and area you are looking for. It's very easy. These guys are just waiting for a Farang to ask. They also get a decent commission for Room owner. Try it! Good luck!
