Just got back from BKK. Stayed at the CentrePoint hotel (service apts), there are 5 of them, I stayed in the Langsuan location. Very guest friendly, never got stopped for ID, rooms are clean and staff is very helpful. The hotel lobby is pretty intimidating; and there seems to be too much security (well dressed guards that salute you when you walk by). You have to drive through a security gate, then a guard opens the door, then the front desk is right in front, but all of it seems for show, they are pretty guest friendly.
Best part about the rooms is that the TV has a channel that shows the front lobby, so you can see who is visiting you. Rooms also have free DSL connection for you to connect your laptop and Network card to, if you dont have a laptop, they have a computer room with internet downstairs. Hotel also has standard restaurant, pool, gym, etc.
Highly recommend this place, just act respectably and you will be treated the same in return.

Have also stayed here -- for over a month. Only had a girl stopped and asked for an id card once and when she told the guy at the desk off he backed down!! It is a little pricey but I love the location right between patpong and nep/sukhumvit and close to the skytrain, siam square and maboonkrong. Another similar place is Chateau de Bangkok on Soi Ruam Rudi which is right at the Ploenchit bts stop.

Correct Nikko, it is a good hotel and I think I will be staying there from now on. The staff seems to be mostly younger type, so they are pretty laid back. I will be checking out the Sukumvhit location when I return, they have 2 bedroom units with a living room area. It is ideal if you want to share a place with a buddy, have a common area to party in with the girls and then retire to the bedroom for some "sanuk".
Also, forgot to add that the toilets have those hoses that TGs seem to prefer to paper. Whatever makes them more comfortable works for me!

i had a university TG call them and find best rate, for 6 month lease, and she told them it was for farang, 46k baht for tne plan b 1 bedroom... i like this place and am considering it... any other advice on this place?

Just left there and have spent a lot of time there in the last year. One minor thing does occur to me. Try to avoid having a room with windows facing north (towards the BTS station). You can hear roosters crowing starting at 3-4 am and continuing all morning. Don't know if you can hear them facing other directions. Also, there are other places on Langsuan-- Cape House, Langsuan Balcony Apartments, etc. and it probably wouldn't hurt to price shop. Also, be aware that if you pay by credit card at centre point on a monthly basis, they will try to hit you with a 2.5% fee ( and I think 3.5% for amex card). One last thing, I think the "type B" is actually a studio, not a 1 br and you should be able to get a rate of 44,000 bt per month.

KMan: That does seem a little high (and I was the one who started this post recommending this place). You may want to check into the hotel for a few days and spend the time looking at the other rooms within the hotel and also the other places that Nikko suggested. You should be able to negotiate a better rate in person.

update: prices fo the smallest 1 bedroom appx 60k, thatis without haggling of course though)
