Geylang is more or less 'dead' now, authorities have decided to shut down the FL trade...raids have been going on for the past 6 months or so.
Only thing still surviving are the legal brothels situated in the houses scattered along Geylang.
No more fun!!

(Didn't want to start a new thread.) I thought p4p was legalized in Singapore a little while back. Perhaps I was mis-informed? I came across this article on Singapore's online paper. Does this mean all the hotels in Singapore will be forced to become guest un-friendly? Anyone could shed some light on this?
Excerpt from the article:
"Under regulation 24(1) of the Hotels Licensing Regulations, no licensee of a hotel shopuld allow any person whom he knows or has reason to believe is a prostitute to occupy a room in the hotel or to frequent the premises.
Offenders can be fined up to $1,000 and up to $2,000 for a second or subsequent conviction."

Shame they are closing it down...
A couple years ago I did BKK-SIN-EWR with an overnight in Singapore. I was running short on time and ask my wife to book me a room overnight. Since it was just a short stay, I told her specifically something close to the airport and reasonably priced... nothing down on Orchard...
When I got home, wife handed me the internet booking confirmation and yes... it was some hotel right in the middle of Geylang. Of course, I just thanked her very much for her thoughtfulness and went on my merry way

This is aimed at the Hotels in outlying suburbs that where little more than Brothels in disguise. It has become a trend lately aimed at Chinese locals & workers for a Pimp to organise an online site with Chinese Hookers. I doubt this will have any effect on OT etc.
In Singapore its not how the rule is written but how it is interpreted!

OZ is correct.
The front page story in the Today Freepaper is that the Budget Hotels do not intend to change their policies. As stated in the article there are many reasons to get a hotel room short-term and they do not all involve protstitues.
In fact I would suggest that in Singapore there are more cases of cheating couples (at least during the day) using the short-time hotels then P4P. For example I recently made use of a Hotel 81 for a tryst with a married female collegue of mine (we just too attracted to each other  ).
That being said, I can also attest to the fact that the FLs are no longer limited to Geylang, OT, and Joo Chiat. I was out late in Chinatown on Sunday to grab some dinner and I saw a China Girl try to pick up an 'Uncle' who was walking along the sidwalk near the Hotel 81 on Cross Street.
