Last we heard here there is no approvals yet for later bar closings. The bureaucracy has stated that until a process is in place to review the requests for later opening hours (some areas, like in HDBs late closings are not permitted) no requests will be entertained. The government expects to have an approval process in place sometime next year.
Bar top dancers are fully clothed, must have shorts on under their dresses and sports bras under their blouses. They cannot interact with customers between dances. They also cannot serve as waitresses if they are dancing that night.
In short, as a columnist in the Straits Times pointed out, this is all window dressing. (and if you do not believe that, check out the apperance that PM Goh had on BBC's HardTalk last night. Nothing is changing)

Satellite disc would be nice but that would encroach on StarHub's monopoly and they are a Government Linked Corporation (GLC).
Actually a tender for another cable provider was put out but no one wanted it. With only 4 Million residents the market is already saturated.
If anything, the govenment here has good business sense.

Not all that bad after all ... if u are in for a short time ... just head for Geylang .. there are a number of FLs there ... average damage is about S$50 - $100.
