While the theme of my cherry trip was poverty, the theme of this trip was BORDEM, specifically during the day. Shopping is average, site seeing is nil, massage parlors not as prolific as in BKK, there just isn’t much to do during the day, even in Makati. The casinos are for suckers.
To compensate for this, I recommend collecting phone numbers of a few girls you really like who are willing to see you during the day. They can occupy you for a few hours in your room, or they will gladly accompany you on a shopping trip. There’s a new mall called Asia Mall (or Mall of Asia?), and Greenhills (not Greenbelt, make that clear to the taxi driver) is supposed to have software for sale.
Many girls are available during the day because they don’t have to split anything with the house. A dancer told us that she has to pay something like 60,000 PHP to the house before she gets to keep any of her “guest” money. The only way she can make money initially is on the side.
Don’t forget L.A. Café and the Imperial Health Club as other “daytime” activities.
Taxis. I found out why some of the taxi drivers have so much road rage - they work 24 hour shifts! I confirmed this with several other taxi drivers. The taxi company wants each driver to have the taxi for 24 hrs. The driver then gets the next day off while someone else drives the taxi. Of course, the drivers can’t drive for 24 hrs straight and take lunch and sleep breaks when they want. But in order to make the most money possible, some of the drivers only get 3 hrs sleep during their shift. How stupid is that?!
Hotels. I stayed at Oxford Suites again. No complaints except the lower your floor, the more 5 pm bar closing noise you get (and it’s loud). I looked around and the Makati Palace Hotel is a great alternative. Superior to Oxford Suites in every way save one, perhaps slightly more upscale than the Landmark BKK. At only $67 per night for a Studio, the room was only slightly smaller than the $80 per night Oxford Junior Suite. But the room was in excellent condition, everything modernized, including the “Do not disturb” buttons and elevator readouts, it also had a separate shower and tub and was well furnished. The only drawback, and it’s a killer for me, is no in-room safe. They have safety deposit boxes at the front desk, but too much of a hassle for me. Oh yes, right smack in the middle of all the action just like Oxford Suites (only a block away), and girl friendly. According to the Bellboy, you have the check the girl in at the front desk, but it’s no problem if you have a room for 2.
On 2 occasions early in my trip, the girl wanted to leave about 4-5 am. Since this is normal bar closing time, it’s just like she was getting off regular work without a customer. I was sleepy and let the girls leave on their own. I did not check them in, but both times I got a phone call from the front desk “Mr. Blue, Miss Love is leaving?” Great catch Oxford Suites! Looking out for their customers.
Money. China Bank near the Burgous Street area (across Makati Ave) not only has the best rates, they are one of the few banks that will change your USD $ to PHP without an active account, and they take traveler’s checks (for a lower rate). Be sure to bring the TC receipts. Cash should be crisp and the newer design. They may not have money 1st thing in the morning, as it is delivered about 10 am. Bank of Commerce further down Makati is an alternative, and you don’t have to cross Makati Ave.
Note the different directions the Thai Baht and Philippine Peso took relative to the dollar since my last FR only 3 months ago. Maybe not significant now, but perhaps a trend to watch.

You note on the manila taxi drivers reminded me of a conversation with a Thai Air Limo driver they also work a 24 hr shift. having worked a lot of shift patterns in my life I would never fancy doing 24 on 24 off, especially driving 24 on.

Bars.
To set the record straight on a few things from my 1st FR: Flamingo is not the only game in town on Burgos Street, and Jools is a lot better than I initially thought. The bars on Burgos Street are owned by a few large companies, so Flamingo, Wild Wild West, Mogambo, and Bandido are all owned by one company and have the same pricing structure 1900 PHP barfine, minus girls drinks, but you need to ask the manager beforehand to make sure.
Billboard, Shampoo, Ringside, Bottoms, Cuddles, Tickles, Mirrors are all owned by another company. Their barfine is 3000 PHP (yep, that’s $60 USD), $1500 before 7 pm. The tip to the girl usually rounds out the total to 6-7000 PHP LT.
Flamingo is about the only place that is happening at 8 pm, but that’s too early. Overly anxious from a boring day in the hotel, I was always eager to start early. Burgos Street doesn’t start pumping until about 10 pm, and goes all the way til 4 or 5 am. You don’t get the pick of the litter either if you come early. Some of the girls trickle in at 9 pm.
Billboard - directly across Oxford Suites on Burgos Street. This is the signature bar in the area for the parent company. According to one of the dancers, Billboard and Flamingo are competing to be the best bar on Burgos Street. Billboard has many pretty girls, but during prime time their music is too loud, and the strobe lights and lasers shining in my eyes made me want to puke. You couldn’t even see what the girls looked like in that kind of environment, let alone talk to them. In terms of girl quantity and quality though, they are a close 2nd to Flamingo.
Ringside - Kalayaan cor. P. Burgos Street. Just across Kalayaan (on the Jools side), this place just opened, and a fun place it is. Girls boxing started at midnight. The girls are selected from different bars, like Bubbles vs. Mirrors, and matched up according to rough weight. They use padded boxing helmets and oversized gloves, but these girls come out with bad intentions. They try to knock each other’s heads off, but the big gloves turn it into a pillow fight. The girls are serious though. One girl got a cut between her eyes, apparently from a stray elbow. They put a bandaid on and the fight continued. Oil wrestling starts June 2 (late notice).
The mamas tell you that all their girls are 18. “We would get in trouble if we got caught with girls under 18!” They’re full of shit! Some of the girls are obviously under 18, more like 15, with braces even.
Jools. The cabaret shows start at 1100 pm, and there is a 100 PHP show fee. The show is different every hour, about 5 numbers each. This time, the show was much more impressive than on my last trip. The girls are older, maybe mid 20’s, and a bit taller, a trait of professional dancers. Some of the girls were very pretty, and as noted, older girls are probably easier to talk. Definite GFE grounds.
Imperial Health Club - walk north up Makati Ave. from Oxford, opposite the main traffic flow. This is a massage pallor that opens at 2 pm. About 8 girls in the fishbowl daytime, most on the heavier side, which helps with the message. It’s a skilled massage, mostly deep kneeding powder massage with some stretching, their goal is to sell the “extras”. I can’t remember the price, but I think it was 2-3000 PHP for the basic 1.5 hrs. My girl would only accept a min 2000 PHP tip for “extras”. They provide the condom.
Summary. On the 2nd to the last day of the trip, I was certain I would give BKK the nod over MNL due to the many more interesting things to do during the day, but on the last night I decided to revisit my favorite for the trip. She was sweet, nice curves, and only 21. The service is definitely more “personal” in MNL. Eh…it’s a draw.

Well I hit Manila tonight.
Not yet sure what I think. Went into on bar think it was called Down under but forget now. Had a real cutie with her hands in my pants.
I did start with about 5 girls around me but just said No only one drink for the cutie.
Drinks did not go towards the BF I asked her. It was the first bar and early so I didn't take her (mistake!!!)
Moved on to Jools and they have a nice show. Once again had a lot of girls around me but said the same thing LD only for the one girl I liked.
Not a cheap place but still worth checking out and the show is very good.
She left around 3:30 am after she said she would stay LT but I already knew she would do this as I could tell she really didn't want to go LT. Kept saying she would leave at 4 am.
No problem, I could tell that was what was going to happen anyhow.
My opinion after one night is I don't know yet. There were many cute girls also some that were not.
