Conclusion:
I came to Philippines with preconceptions and very low expectations but in the end I came out with my opinion turned upside down 360 degrees! I had such an exhilarating time in such a short time, barely catching breath in between moments. Never a dull moment, always full on excitement; I found Filipinos to be polite and smiling, more so than Thais and that is a big achievement.
They are generally surprised and full of pride if someone likes their country and they soak compliments like sponges. My pathetic attempts to strings together a couple of Tagalog sentences always brought smiles all around and had keen offers to correct and teach me how to pronounce and articulate grammatically correct phrases. I also was positively surprised at how many good-looking women there are in Philippines, they still not up to Thai standards but beauties are everywhere. Of course pinays attitude, charm and genuine desire to please is well known, and in this respect they are better than Thai women.
This was a solo trip and of course everything was new to me, with insight I could have handled better the transitional shock from Angeles City to Makati, Manila. I lost a potentially great bar fine (and cheaper too; she was prepared to accept P. 2,000 for long time and P. 1,000 for short time) and I initially approached P. Burgos bars with the wrong attitude. I guess one live to learn from his mistakes! It would have been a lot nicer to have bar-hopped with some of the members here, especially the residents and long time visitors. Not only because partying is more enjoyable with like minded people but I could have benefited from their knowledge and experience of the place, but it wasn’t to be. However, the upside of solo bar-hopping is that you get all the attention and fussed over much more if I were part of a group of people. I actually enjoy that and I can handle the situation; plus of course I don’t get distracted when targeting my victim….sorry, bar fine of the night.
Final body count was 12 new girls in 10 days (not counting repeats and multiple daily sessions, of course) ; I scored ten new P4Ps and two new regular girls; which is more or less in line with what I’m accustomed to in Thailand. It ain’t the greatest average number (1.2 new different girl every day), I know, but it suits me fine as I like to do other things during the day and plus of course I always return for a second helping or third, with the ones I particularly liked. Also in each trip, I like to take a regular sweetheart with me for a couple days or so, sightseeing places of interest and chilling out in a monogamous relationship in a seaside resort; and that of course brings the average down.
Even before travelling to Philippines, I had already planned my usual annual five weeks holidays in Thailand at Christmas time but now I’ve decided to cut it down to just three weeks (much to the dismay of my regular Thai GIKs who now see Philippines and pinay women as a threat), to allow me two weeks in Philippines in January. My humble advice to other likeminded newbie is: “Providing that you do your homework, have a flexible journey plan and keep your wits at all times, you will have a blast in Philippines. Go for it.”
