The majority of these girls have the Hooker mindset and would not be suited to another way of life.

Personally, in my somewhat limited extent of travelling and even in and around Thailand, I haven't met two ladies who think alike.
So, maybe this reference to a mindset is a little beyond me.
Or are we perhaps easing ourselves back into a more comfortable inclination to stereotype, yet again ?
Or, is it true that all falang think alike ?

Agree and disagree. If the girl is 19 and like most people that age, wants to have some fun, your observation is probably correct to a certain extent. If the girl is 22 with a kid from upcountry, she would give your left nut to have a office job for that kinda pay.
Usually the option is to work in a factory for about BT 6 -8k per month and have to pay for rent and local expenses leaving probably about BT 1k to send home.
IMO, the Thai women have a fairly good work ethic.

I don't think anyone, not even, sirtitus, seajohn, ma9 or Joe Wood has claimed to have seen a Playboy centre-fold chick, sans air-brushing and glossiness to slide off, at SOL.
I don't think anyone on entering the bar has any expectation to be serviced by such an illusion there.
What I understand them to mean, in all their posts, is that they find a certain openness and honesty there amongst the girls that is refreshing ; an atmosphere that is relaxing and non-pushy, welcoming and convivial ; and a bar full of young ladies who are entertaining, pleasant, understanding, congenial and eager to please the customer.
It is an adult bar. It isn't populated by the usual bar girls who push for lady drinks all the time.
They don't have the awful learnt-by-heart one-liners tripping off the tongue, like, 'you handsome man', 'you good man' crap.
You go for a suck. They know you come for a sucking and they give you one....or two......or what you fancy.in the bar.short-time, long-time, casually, infrequently, regularly.
And that's it. There's no fuss, No talk of......you are the love of my life drivel. They know what they do. They know that their customers regard them as service providers who are well able to give them the casual sexual relief that they are looking for.
They are not looking for a Prince Charming to walk in through the door. Most of them have had that experience way back, mostly leaving them with a child or two, before the prince went off drinking and gambling the family money away. They know the score.
They know how society looks down on them. And they also know how a lot of customers would not give them the time of day outside of the service that they provide.
They don't complain.
Most of them would be hard put to secure alternative employment which would pay them over 6,000 baht a month. Most of them, although highly intelligent and would do well in the business world, are not formally educated.
Contrary to popular belief, they don't run back to a Thai boyfriend after work. They've seen that crap. They are working there and one of the reasons why they are there is because they don't want any of that crap and they are trying the create an independent life-style, whilst at the same time funding the family or community back home.
They may not be the best lookers in town. And they don't pretend to be. But what they are, which is delightful, fun, good-hearted, game for a laugh, and straight-forward, shines through and warms that place like no other.
Give me a choice of bars anywhere in South-east Asia for female company, and the Star of Light is my choice every time.
