I had not gone, or come rather, to SOL for a long time. The whole road seems a bit dreary nowadays. That does not mean I do not still have a hard spot for a few of the dear girls there.
Anyhoo, I did drop by last week. I was told that they could only give me about 15 minutes in the back bathroom. I declined because, although I wanted something quick, that's too much pressure for me. The owner explained the hotel room deal to me, but I didn't feel like it at that time, though I'm sure it would have been fine. Perhaps another day. I gave a small tip to the one that I would have engaged and left.
The owner wanted to tell me it's going to be such a crackdown all across the city, but of course that is not exactly true. There are uniformed personnel everywhere around that section of Silom nowadays, so it's just her and the girls' bad luck. I'm sure things will be better in the future. I'll go do the hotel room thing again soon.

I was only in SOL last week so when some guy was spouting off in a bar about it being shut down completely, I made another visit, because one doesn't know the pace of things in this strangled situation of martial insecurity and the compulsion to feel in control and all-powerful.
Admittedly, Patpong in general is a sorry site and a sorry sight and is not busy at all in the supposedly high season and that has compounded the fall from grace of SOL. They are suffering.
But the bar, the ladies and their mouths and other orifices are open daily, though not as before but willingly generous in swallowing any donation or deposit. All is gratefully received.
Day time as seajohn mentioned is restricted in time in the backroom and at night-time not at all.
So if you go at either time, opt for the hotel room that they have a deal with, which is only 200 baht more. The advantage is that you can take your time.
The other option, far more preferable to me is to invite the lady or ladies to your home or hotel.
But I understand that some guys have home circumstances that would make this option inadvisable.

Varied experience going on here for sure.
I visited around 3 pm, 18 th or 19 of Nov ish. No hesitation when I ordered a Soda and pointed to the couch. Business as usual, the expected upsell (you want two lady ?) which was accepted this time round. Plah starting, unknown lady finishing. Pet dog wandering along the bar top, two ladies doing paperwork / sorting the till and quietly chatting. Like I say, business as usual, SOL style !
What a great way to have an afternoon matinee !
I would imagine they have their spotters out and know if Mr Plod is about or not.

Yes, 3 p.m. is a good time to get one, so long as there is a spotter available. I guess the girls sense the probability of a visit and so at those times, keep to the restrictions.
I'll go again soon at a different time. Hopefully at some time in the New Year they'll get some new girls in to complement the existing staff.

Its been way too long since my last visit to bangkok, and ofcourse to SOL. From all that I have read, I get mixed answers. I am planning another visit soon, so if someone could please clarify, are they only offering bj on the premises and restricted time in the back room (not that I ever use the back room), or are other services on the offering? Or will I have to use the hotel for full service?

It's hit and miss judging from what's being reported. I got the couch no problem. And after going back through my trip notes it was around 3 pm on the 20 th Nov. Others have had different experiences.
I guess you need to roll with the punches to a degree as it will depend on local police / military presence at that time.

A week and a half ago I had 3 girls on the couch, no issues, a Thai guy came in and was serviced in the back room during my 'stint' !
That was around 1pm on a week day.

Just last week again on lark and it was tried and true: Service on the couch in the afternoon. I tend to wonder if it has something to do with the owner being there or not...
When I was there a couple weeks ago (my post above) it was her who had given me that news about either "make it quick" in the bathroom or at the 200 baht hotel, which isn't a bad deal anyway.

Thanks for the updates. Its always full service on the couch for me and I really hate take out orders. Will have to see for myself during my visit. Just hope that my favorite pair of sisters are still working there.
