He helped me out a lot with recommendations and advice when I wasn't as proficient in the LOS. He will truly be missed.

Oh my. So sad to hear this news. Joe was such a great guy. I am glad I had the pleasure of knowing him and sharing some beers together with him in BKK. I've called him in recent years with no answer to his phone and had just sent him a PM last week, without knowing.
Rest in peace, Joe Wood. You will forever be remembered.

There’s always one good reason to visit Patpong. SOL feels frozen in time, a throwback to another, dirtier era in Bangkok. The bar is the same, the prices are essentially the same, the girls are still the most talented and willing to please in probably all of the world, and it is the one place I wish I could replicate in my home town (it used to be Eden when it was under French management, but alas no more). One day I expect to arrive and see a sign like the one hanging over the Kangaroo bar a while back, “Closed permanently. Sorry”. But SOL has been around for some 40-50 years?, why not hang on some more? Patpong doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon.

That bar brings back memories as it was the very first bar I visited when I first arrived in BKK way back in 1996. We've had a group blow job there once during one of the RTs.

Kangeroo was also a rip offbar. A typical thai trait logic nowhere to be found. Without repeat customers as you are ripping them off,you have to close.
