Hi Guys, I will be venturing off to Beijing and possibly Shanghai early next year for the first time. Purpose is just a holiday and plenty of sight seeing, and of course some nightlife (I'll ask more about that later). Wasn't able to get much from a search on Bejing in terms of Hotels, so thought Id ask where you guys stay in Beijing. I'd be looking to stay downtown somewhere, close to all the main attractions! Is there a general girl policy in Hotels there? Or does it vary from Hotel to Hotel? I don't plan on doing much of the P4P, but hoping for a couple of scores from bars etc. Anyway, any advice on Hotels (around 3 start category would be good) would be appreciated.

Spend a bit of time in BJ on business....
BJ is very spread out but there are a number of hotels close to Forbidden City etc.
BJ International - rooms from US$60 upwards - walking distance to Forbidden City
Often have lots of girls outside this hotel offering services - beware they are not much to look at would not advise taking up their offers
Howard Johnson Paragon Hotel
Close to BJ railway station and has decent rooms - there is also a sauna / health club that have some attractive massage girls who provide full service - walking distance to Forbidden City
Traders Hotel (Next to China World) - bit further away but room from US$60. Often have girls around that area as well... some lookers amongst them
Marco Polo BJ Xidan - decent hotel with rooms around US$90, close to malls, and not too far to Forbidden city
Rosedale BJ - about 30 minutes from downtown area but closer to some parts of the Great wall. Is located near the Lido Holiday Inn which hasa great pub that can get some stunning women from Mongolia - have met a couple of true beauties there -
Generally, it is not as open as Thailand - often have problems getting girls to your room after 11.30pm or at least you have to do the walk of shame in full view of security, front desk staff etc

Sounds like all the Hotels there will be pretty much the same then as far as girl policy goes? I guess that can be a good thing in that it won't narrow the Hotels down I can chose from! Appreciate your suggestions - Now I know this I'll try and pick any Hotel close to all the regular nightlife, including the ones you suggested....but as you said if everything is so spread out it may be difficult. Getting anything decent under 60US might be hard : (

I am sure there are decent hotels for under US$60 - ther are plenty of newly built 3 & 4 star hotels I have any info on them as all my trips to BJ are on the company ticket - staying in more business traveller hotels etc....
Of course a trip to BJ would not be complete with a visit to Maggies -

Just been in BJ.
Stayed at the Marco Polo. Next to the world's biggest construction site I think!! No problem taking girls back and a nice hotel too.
I think you gotta take a taxi to get most places in Beijing. It is big and concrete and that means HOT at times in their summer.
I met a guy staying at the Baoding. Ok hotel, about $40 I think. It is findable on google.
Try a Mongolian girl....give her one from me.

Find Maggies Bar.
They just moved to another location, but it is a place to find a girl for the night. Many Mongolian lookers there as well as Chinese. Usually $50-100 for all nighter.

Indeed a lot has been said about the ongoings in Beijing.
But when I read ROSEDALE, I would like to remind you fellows that it is owned and run by the Communist Party of China. Or the KUNLUN with nice chicks around and a regular phonecall 5 minutes after you went up to your room ("Like Massage?") : owned and run by the Secret Service.
Enjoy. You'll be framed.
I recommend the Landmark, right in the middle of bars and street action, not very expensive and absolutely no problem to take a girl.
If you want real pleasure that comes close to LOS, go anywhere but not to Beijing. (I mentioned some coastal cities for instance in other threads).

I have stayed at the Rosedale many times and never had any problem bring back a girl from the Lido nearby - even later at night...
Have also just returned from Chengdu and can recommend a visit there as well - some very beautiful girls around and some great rates and 5 star places such as The Sheraton...

China Sailor...Correct 28 threads and none of them were related to Guest Friendly Hotels that I could see. Thats right, my question was not answered NOR could I find an appropriate thread to use (If there is a thread on GF Hotels in Beijing I couldn't find it). So, I created a new thread that is relevant - My deepest sincere apologies If you lost some sleep because of this.
Anyway, Snap, Edge, BkkFella & Peter thanx a lot for your input...they have been most helpful. The Landmark is looking good, but probably a tad over my budget. I'll do some more googling to see what else is located around that area.
