Im not going to say Cambodia is better then any other places to visit you have to see for your self. But for you who do visit I want to know why do I see most at the same place in Phnom penh ? At the guest houses on the lake boaung kak. This has to be the worst places to stay in Cambodia just walk down the street the you will be asked by at least 5 drug dealers if you want drugs. Im sure they are here sell becouse there is stupid people that will buy from them. Even the motor bike drivers say its not the best place to be late at night. This is the only place in cambodia that I will not stay and the lake is more like a open sewer. Stay away and see the real cambodia. So why are all tourests here? If you want to see lots of stupid backpackers here to save the world then stay here. But if you want to stay in the real Cambodia not a made up place just for tourests stay any place but here. Many hotel and guest houses near and on st 63 near the shopping mall next to central market for $8 to $15. Or stay on the riverside a little more set up for tourests prices around $20 but can get for less. Cambodia is one of the safest and best value for your $$ the p4p is the best prices any place in asia or the world. I dont need to say where to find any p4p its just to easy to find. From massage places or street workers or from any of the discos or local clubs. Motor bike prices 2000 to 3000 lear is about the most you need to pay any time day or night for a longer trip or for a long time with the driver waiting for you can pay up to $4 usd or a little more. As for all the reports you read on the internet about guys with guns waiting for you down every dark street and every place you go you will be offered under age girls is all lies. If your white looking no one will even say the word young to you here with all the ngo's here looking to make a name for there save the world org. They dont know if your a ngo or just looking for some fun. If they do say the word young girls ask what age they are and most will say 19 to 21 is want they think is young. Im sure if you look you could find some under 18 here but so can you in any country in the world even the USA you can find girls 15 years old or younger working the streets in Holly Wood Blvd.
Who said you should stay at the lake??? Is that the same person you have mentioned in your will?? That would explain it. I don't think anyone on this board gave you that advice (atleast not before you pissed him off). I rented a bicycle from my hotel and took a trip to the eastern shore because I thought : city + lake = nice pictures. Well that is true if you like cesspools and shantytowns. My camera stayed in his holster.
And why would you want your driver to wait while you do your business???? You pay him $3 to stand there with his fingers up his own ass. Get rid of him. Take one for $0.50 coming and take one for $0.50 going. That guy outside waiting is one garanteed way to make your price inside to double. After you are gone he will take his commission from them.
And the best prices for P4P??? Well you can find losers everywhere for a few $$, but the standard price for all night is $20 same as Thailand with 1000 baht. And the service in thailand is much better. So if money is your reason, then forget about it.
Oh, and every girl between the age of 15 and 21 is 21 in cambodia when you ask their age.
And guys with guns? That were policemen. The most dangerous cambodian a tourist can meet. (I wish this was a joke, but it ain't!)
