Could more people comment on the safety issue in Cambodia.
I stick out like a sore thumb in cambodia. I'm the pale tourist that almost glows in the dark. But I never have felt that my safety was at risk. The closest I ever came to crime, was when some policeofficers shaked me down for $20. So if I see police on one side of the street and rough people on the other side. I choose rough anytime of the day. 
So is Senty overly cautious, or am I overly naieve? Or is it both? I guess this the kind of information that can benefit us all. I don't like to go the way sentry does it, and never felt it even remotely nessecary.

Never really had any problems in Cambodia myself. I think sentry is going overboard a bit but up to him.
I would rather save the 20-40 bucks I would be paying the two guys and get myself a couple of bed warmers for the same price or less.
It does depend a bit on were you are going. If you are just hitting martinis or the walkabout I don't think you have a lot to worry about if you avoid getting shit faced drunk.
Now if you are hitting some seedy dump of a place where you are the only tourist for miles around, then I would think it wise to take a bit of caution.
Even then I would feel fine with one of the moto's I used. He used to be a police officer and seemed to have his head on straight about what was safe or not safe.
However as the link above shows shit can happen.

I was in PP last week and never felt in any threat, even wandering around the streets around Sharkey's Bar at midnight, in a power cut.
The same rules apply as anywhere. Look like you're on a mission, walk with purpose, don't skulk or look nervous and you'll be left alone. Just be diligent. Same same anywhere in the world, I reckon. I'm 192cm so I stick out also, but have never had a problem.
Correction: Some hooker tried to pick my pocket one night (a tag team of two tried the 'distract and go for the back pocket' ruse). I anticipated it, waited for the lunge to my pocket and grabbed her hand before she could get far. No problem. Could have been Sukhumvit Road.

I should mention that that moto new the guy at my hotel as he had gotten him out of a couple of problems. He said to me everytime the guy in the hotel gets in trouble he call him to fix it. I asked what he was talking about.
He said that most times he would talk to the police and then they would go out for drinks (that he paid for) and everything was fine after that.

My moto I picked up at another location then my hotel. When I called him to pick me up at the hotel one day I told him I would be inside playing pool and to come in to find me.
He did and after we left he mentioned that he knew the guy I was playing pool with. I asked how and he said everytime he gets in trouble the guy is calling him to bale him out of it.
