Hire a moto driver for $6-8 per day, and he will be at your service day and night to take you anywhere. It is not recommended to hire a car or bike and drive it yourself.
Discretion.... no PP local gives a shit about what you are doing or where you are going.

If you want to stay there, book early, they are often full. The street where the Pickled Parrot is on and the nearby street (104 and 108) have some good bars. St. 136 also, but more pressure (and choice) on St. 136.

Tonle Sap Guest House & Pickled Parrot Pub
The Tonle Sap Guest House & Pickled Parrot Pub is located next to the river on Street 104. http://www.tonlesapguesthouse.com/ The Hotel, Bar and Restaurant is Australian owned and managed. The establishment is very clean, up to western standards, and has been recently refurbished. The rooms and public areas are air conditioned. The rooms are a little spartan, very clean, have all new furnishings, all drawers and the closet can be locked (keys in lock). The food and bar are top quality and open 24 hours 7 days a week. I ate almost all my meals at the Pickled Parrot. Good food! Aussie steaks available. The bar has a full selection of liquors (large selection of whiskeys) and draught beers on tap. The girls (the servers, The Pickled Parrot Girls) are very beautiful (not good to go, damn!) are friendly, alluring, and speak fluent English. I could not make up my mind which one I loved the most. The Pickled Parrot draws many locals and expats. Very friendly and hospitable environment, your almost immediately a visiting expat.

I've gotta agree with Myrth. The Cara is nice and clean. It's full of Japanese businessmen and their restaurant is Japanese. Get a deluxe room in the front with a balcony. It's a little out of the way for mongering, but it's in a nice neighborhood with good restaurants and such. Motos are everywhere and will take you anyplace for a buck. I like the Pickled Parrot, but not the rooms. If you want to spend a little more, stay at the FCC ($55-60). Their rooms are great, good food, and a classic place to drink. I figure I'm saving so much on girls, drink, and food that I'll spend for the room. I need a little refuge from PP. Grab some food at Le Metro on Sisowath Quay. It's upscale,superb, and cheap. wj

I am sitting at the Pickled PP now. PP is real slow. I think a lot of girls have gone back to villages. Quality definately down made up for by lack of customers. It appears Hope and Anchor is closed. Great location for somebody who knows what they are doing (unlike the last guy). Lotsa new bars - nothing great though. Downturn giving town at bit of a different vibe.

I stayed at City Centre hotel on 130. Nice hotel, new, 2 blocks from river, flat screen, great staff. Not cheap $35 - 50, but worth it IMO. Book direct and save $10 or so. http://www.citycentrephnompenh.com Best talent I've seen is at Shanghai, across from Walkabout. Maybe about a dozen 8 and above in late afternoon. Problem with Shanghai most girls will not go. Their there to milk drinks out of you. Though I have pulled ladies out of there and had a great experience.
