howdy,
a buddy and I are planning on spending a full day at angkor wat and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a good english speaking driver that can act as tour guide? hoping for pick-up at poipet (day 1), angkor wat (day 2), back to poi pet (day 3 morning).
price info and contact details would be appreciated.

a guide will run about 20-25 per day. make sure you get a state certified guide through your hotel. a car with AC will also cost 20-25.

Is it worth wild to rent a car/driver for 2 days and make a visit from PP to KK or Suk with return trip to PP.

No idea if my guide was a state certified guide or not.
Don't really care he was very good. Also he picked me up that night and took me to a restaurant a tourist would never find, then to a bunch of bars where I found a cutie for the night.
No charge for hanging out with him for the night
I guess when the guide and taxi picked me up that morning and I walked out of the hotel with another cutie he clued in I wasn't just there for the temples 
Taxi $20 guide $20.
I got stopped by a family of four getting out of a mini bus while visiting the temples. They were a couple with two kids. The father asked me what it cost me for the taxi and guide. Don't know what he paid but from the look on his face it was a lot more!!!

$20 guide (certified), $20 taxi, and $20 entry fee. $160 is insane, but if you are staying in an upscale hotel and/or booking online prior to arrival they expect you to be a rich care free westerner who likes to waste his money.
You can better use the residual $100 to plan an extra day getting settled, exploring town, visit/donate to a local charity and seeking out some of the pink stuff.

If you are not too unfit, another lovely way of seeing Ankor Wat is hiring a bicycle. It is all entirely flat, around 20km, and you can do the small loop (most of the temples) in a leisurely day.
Cost: $2US to rent a bike for a day. The only drawback is no guide, though maybe you can get one to cycle round with you.

Recommendation:
First, Do Visa online or in advance at Cam Embassy.
If not, then bring dollars and give them US $20. you will then be told a set of responses from we only accept Baht to the price has recently increased. All lies, most likely.
This process may take a few minutes. To faciliate quicker action offer them a small tip 40 baht or so up to 100baht tip. They were last month asking Thai Baht 1200-1600 and 35+ U.S.
Don't plan pick up from Poipet, Pass through immigration, don't talk with people offering free rides etc. It is a short walk. walk past the vans going to SR with the overhang and go past the fountain/statue keep walking a few meters and you will see numerous taxis on the side of the road and someone will approach you.
Arrange with them to pay for the taxi from 10- 15 dollars per person for whole taxi, you might find one other to take other back seat while processing visa.
Take the SCAM shuttle to SR if you don't mind the slow speed and dealing with there hassles.
Once in SR, talk with any guest house you stay at about a driver/guide or get a reccomendation ahead of time.
I recommend a room at Goldern Orange hotel previously $20 can be double occupancy 10 per and online reservation.
Doug will have a guide taxi on speed dial. Most good guides are not also taxi drivers though.
You can then do the same return trip, possibly with the driver who delivered you or with another recommendation from the hotel.
Just my opinion, I have done Poipet near 20 times in times in the last 3 years.
