Does anyone have knowledge of a system operating at Cowboy's big three - Long Gun; Rawhide and Cactus (or any bar I guess) that involves the guy paying the Bar 10,000 baht for some kind of preferred customer status with a particular girl.
It was explained to me that you make the one off payment of 10,000 and then never pay bar for that girl again - sounded like lousy value to me unless I was resident in BKK - seemed a bit like paying a lifetime membership for only one book in a library.
My TGF insisted that lots of non-resident guys do this but could not explain to me what exactly the guy gets for this pretty hefty outlay. Anyone know about this?

This procedure is called 'Seu dtooa' (literally buy ticket) as the bar tries to get a compensation for losing an employee.
It's not a particular custom of Long Gun, Rawhide and Cactus. It's a common practice of all bars, including beer bars.
Of course, if you really like to stay with that kind for a prolonged time, you can ask her to walk (or stay) away from that bar.
The advantage of 'seu dtooa' is that the girl can resign without losing face and can return to the same bar after she has been dumped by Farang X.
The benefits of the 'seu dtooa' are usually shared by the bar and the girl 50-50.
I myself have never paid 'seu dtooa' but I've seen quite a few residents and non-residents pay up as goodwill to the girl.
It also happens that somebody pays up, the girl takes her share, the guy goes home and she starts working in the same bar again.

Okay, okay. Thank you gentlemen. Now things are clicking into place with a resounding clunk. I realise now we are talking about a bar/ bargirl severance deal here not a "perpetual" barfine at all.
If I want a BG to quit a bar and take sponsorship from me I pay the "seu dtooa" to get her "cleanly" out of her employment contract with the bar.
Yeah, the pieces of the puzzle from this last week in Thailand now fit neatly together. I have once again been royally "had" and have paid 5 barfines to a girl who does not work at a bar anymore, no doubt has a sponsor and who oh so sweetly pulled the wool over my dick numerous times.
But then "Heaven does hold a sense of wonderment" and "I wanted to believe"....

like most things, many BGs will try it on, but by and large, the 10, 000bt donation raely paid, and certainly no guarrantees to go with it, most bars pay the girls twice monthly, so if you want her to leave, wait till 1st/16th - if she is genuine, she should be happy to just walk away - sad to say, again, this rarely happens.

most girls will be happy to quit their job if you supply equivalent funds on a monthly base.
but don't pay her monthly, agree on a amount, check first her monthly payments (rent, motorbike in isaan, color tv installments). pay those on due dates. divide balance equally and pay weekly.

as for the monthly payments, that will be for you to find out. there might not be much left for the weekly retainer then.
as for me. I have my principles. I don't pay her anything at all just let her work.
but there are those rare events when she is cash strapped (rent, fathers saengsom consumption, mothers funeral, taxi money, new clothes, no money for food, beauty salon).
the principles go usually bellyhop when she looks at me with those big brown eyes, shedding a little tear occasionally.
 I admit I am stupid (translates to "jai dee" in thai) but I have fun doing it.
