I heard there are some Thai gogo bars at the Suthisan near Ari BTS station. Have anyone been in these shops and know how the systems work and how the girls dance? I heard from some Thai guy that said there are some cuties there and the price is lower than Sukhumvit.
Any info?

it's called Sapahn Kwai
and it's nearest the Sapahn Kwai BTS station
you'll walk a bloody long way if you get off at Ari station, LOL
they don't start to open until 8pm
from Sapahn Kwai station, go East up Suttisan Road and you'll see the bars after you're past the first block, there are even some right near the intersection, but only a few
I can't remember the pricing, but it's cheaper than NEP and you'll be like a celebrity since foreigners don't normally frequent this area
umm, you really should be able to speak Thai if you go in this area, otherwise you might have some misunderstandings
most of the gals can't dance for shit, but there are some young ones, University age
there are certainly some gems to be found there
oh, and the system,,,
you pay for the gal to sit and chat, I think 80b/hour and also pay for her drink
so try and pick out one you like before she sits down, otherwise you'll be paying over and over again for drinks
it's not uncommon to buy one gal a drink and consult with her about who to take home. i.e., who has no kids and can stay with me all night, gives head, and takes it up the pooper...

Been up there a couple of times, 10-15 years ago. Some of the bars were very dingy and depressing, but there were a couple of good ones as well. One gogo bar we went to was easily the equal of a good Nana Plaza bar.
Farangs and other foreigners are fairly rare but not unwelcome. It does help if you can speak Thai, needless to say.
I wandered through there recently, didn't enter any bars, but from the outside it all looked about the same as my visits in the mid-nineties. A couple of touts approached me trying to get me to go into a couple of bars. Also hopped in a taxi late one night a year or so ago with the idea of having a beer up there, but at the time all the bars there were being closed at midnight!
On the other side of Paholyothin, along Pradiphat Road and the surrounding sois there are also a few interesting looking bars, though there are a number of gay bars mixed in with the hetero ones, which can be a bit off-putting.
Back in the 60s there were a number of US military personnel based in the area. There were bars there to serve this market. I'm not sure if any of the current day bars are holdovers from those days or if the Saphan Khwai bar strip had its origins in those days. If anyone knows anyhting about this I'd be interested in hearing.

guess my experience differed from LY's. farangs are welcome, but just mildly.
some girl who sits with a foreigner, or even goes with one, might have trouble going with thai nationals after.
remember, there are (almost) no virgins in SC, NEP or PP, just "farang virgins"...
some gems there, correct. drink prices are lower, beer as BK pointed out. girls sit with you for about 20 to 30 mins, depending on the venue.
do you have to speak thai?? just a little. me thinks its more fun that way.

The facts:
- Around 10 bars in one stretch with one opposite.
- Beer is 120 baht per large bottle. You can share with friends. Soft drinks from 25 baht up.
- You will be asked if you like a girl to sit with you. Fee ranges from 80 baht per half hour to 140 baht per 45 minutes.
- The number of girls is much less than Nana. You will never find more than 3 girls dancing at the same time. The quality of the girls is (per ratio) higher than Nana/SC.
- You can take out the girl and pay an all inclusive price ranging from THB 1500-THB 2000.
- Bars range from dodgy (simple) to quite nice.
- Speaking Thai is a major advantage. Foreigners have no problem to get into the bars.
The best bar (in my opinion) is the Harlem Music bar (situated on its own) on the opposite of the main bars area.

The mamasan offers a girl. You can tell her without a problem you don't like her and another girl will be offered.
We recently had two tours going there with (in total) three veteran BTF members.

I checked this area myself some nights ago. I took the BTS and got off at Saphan Kwai and walked back to Suthisan. 10 min walk.
I went into about 6 bars. Some have no English names. Went in bars called Best, Rainbow, Harlem, RCA and the rest unknown.
Overall the bars were really dark and only 2-3 girls were dancing in bikini at most. Some bars did not have girls dancing when I was there but only sitting around.
I found the drinks are pricy or maybe overcharge? Harlem charged me 129 bahts for a Pepsi. Other stores charged me like 70-100 bahts for a soft drinks.
Basically all stores too dark to tell the quality of the girls. I think all these stores have less than 10 girls working and I did not see anything interesting in the darkness. Very few customers overall when I was there.
I once out of curiosity asked a girl to chat in a bar called Best. She told me to take her out is 2000 bahts include sex. And I still have to pay the ST hotel around there which is 4-5 hundred bahts.
So this venue is not really cheap compared to SC or Nana. The choices here were much more limited, and the worst downside is that all these bars were too dark to confirm the girls' quality.
Not recommended to other members at all unless you absolutely tired of all other available venues.
