I could listen to jazz all day long. On one of my "nights off" this fall I would prefer to take in some good jazz.
Recommendations? Other than Brown Sugar???

Sadly, I have no good advice.
I'm a big jazz fan myself (both playing and listening), but after three visits to LOS (two Bangkok), I realize Thailand is not the venue for great music experiences (in any kind, not only jazz).
I hope I'm wrong, and someone could enlighten me, please...

Well, the guides say very little about quality, and that is the main problem in Thailand. I live in Oslo, Norway, and can listen to top live performances almost any night a week. What happens to musical talent in Thailand goes beyond me, I have not heard it. But as I said, I really hope I'm wrong.

There is a place on Sukhumvit Soi 24 called Tokyo Joe's. Search the Gig Guide Link that is posted above for their info and number. Although somewhere I read "Blues every night", this does not appear to be true, I believe that they alternate jazz and blues. I've only been there on blues nights.
Also Witches Tavern on Thong Lo has jazz many nights.

I would jump at this advice if Witches Tavern was a girl! But, knowing you CG, clapping your hands on the 1 and 3, slightly offbeat, I would not make it a sure thing.
My main point is: Yes, there are a lot of concerts (jazz and otherwize) to be had, but, in my ears they are totally inferiour of the Euoropean counterparts.
But as I said, I want to be proven wrong. But I do not trust CG in this matter. But can you PM me IceGirl's phonenumber?

Tokyo Joe's is decent, in my experience.
A small venue, but that just means that it is intimate. The chow is acceptable, as well.

As we've discussed Erik, the quality of live music in Bangkok does not compare with that of places in Europe or Amereka.
That said, I find some of the Thai pop bands quite listenable. My taste, not yours, for sure. But you're a musician and I am not.
The quality of rock-and-roll here in Colorado is far superior to anything in Bangkok. The average steak here competes with the best steak in Bangkok. The availability of sports leagues to join in Bangkok (for those living there) is very low. And all the hockey rinks in the country are complete crap. And you can't even watch the Stanley Cup Finals on TV in Thailand. And you never see a Colorado Rockies baseball game - which is a probably a good thing, TGs look better in a Rockies jersey than Jose Mesa does.  But I guess if these things were really important for Bangkok residents, things would be different.
My guess is that you would find the jazz at Tokyo Joe's or Witches Tavern to be "OK, not bad for Bangkok."

Jazz Hmm.. nothing puts a TG faster to sleep than this.
