Recently, a friend told me about Cactus Bar in Soi Cowboy, saying they had free food, served by appropriately naked girls.
Since then, I have visited the place a few times, and found his description basically correct. They do indeed have free food: Saturday is chili and cornbread night (beers are about B115), Sunday varies, but I have had some hellaciously good corned beef sandwiches, and seen some nice BBQ (had eaten just before, so didn't indulge). He may have something on Fridays, but I'm not sure...
The owner, an American whose name is, I think, John, seems a really nice guy. He also seems to have a nipple fetish, because most of his dancers have HUGE ones!
If anything, he may be a bit too nice, as I have seen the girls whacking him and talking shit in a way that is most unbefitting their status difference...
Anyway, he serves some nice draft beers, and is probably fighting an uphill battle in this location, so go squeeze a nipple or two, between bites of cornbread, and buy some beers.
I give him an A for effort, and hope he does well.

Was wondering when you (RTB) were going to show up on this thread.
I pop over to Cactus every now and again. The owner is a nice enough chap, but he does let the ladies push him around a bit. He likes to cook hence the free food. And he likes to drink so he runs a bar. Nice when one can do what one loves to do.

I went in this place by accident my last trip, and decided to sit and look, it was a really small place, probably the smallest, and had only about 6 girls at 9PM, and drinks price is high 130 or so, and the 6 girls I saw were pretty much wasting time, but so is the whole go-go scene in Thailand now, I actually ventured into about 6 bars, sit and wait but cannot find one that worth the pay bar, even I tried to lower my standard.
I was out of Thailand in 4 days, originally 10 day planned, and swithched to hunt in southern China.

No not exactly a Jungle Jim kind of place but kind of a blend of JJs and a more standard Soi Cowboy bar. The ladies are not quite as in-your-face friendly as JJs, but they can be pretty friendly.
The appeal of course will depend upon the individual. The ladies are pretty much naked or close to it most of the time so there is that. Only a couple of the ladies that appeal to me even naked, and a couple are actually more appealing a bit more covered. But everyone has different tastes.
I know a couple of guys that hang out in Cactus every now and again and generally the only time I hand around for more than one drink is if any of them are in the house and we are discussing life in BKK. Also the owner/operator can be fairly entertaining at times.
Plus I think they might have a room upstairs but I am not sure about that.

Thought I'd raise this little thread to the surface for a breath of fresh air.
Cactus is a really nice bar.
Yes, it's small.
And sometimes the number of girls is down to about six or eight. But most times, when they are not bar-fined you have about 14 naked girls in there either dancing or entertaining customers or just walking around.
The music is good but sometmes a little to loud for my liking.
But it is a break from the usual go-go bars of Cowboy and very comfortable if you sit on the right hand side of the narrow stage or at the end near to the entrance.
Breast size varies, so those who have got the false impression that there are enormous breasted girls in there will be disappointed.
My liking for any sized breasts at all make it a place to go. The dancing isn't usually wild as the girls do need encouragement and if its given, there are a few there who will respond most vigorously.
John, the owner / manager is a good, friendly guy and deserves our custom.
He'll be opening a new bar / club lower down on Sukhumvit in the new year and will take his best girls to open it. So, rush in there before they are gone.
Some of the girls are a bit slow to warm, but once warmed will open up very well. In fact one girl broke into her village stay of six months just to stay with me for a week buck-free. ( 'f***-free' is misinterpretable ).
So, if you have a moment or two between the main go-go bars and just want a few moments that are different, pop in to Cactus.
And of course I must state categorically that I have no financial interest in the bar at all. The girls, yes.
The bar, no.
