Last I heard, the Firecat was renamed the Wildcat (anyone confirm this?). We always tipped the mamasan (Yuy) 100 Baht when we walked in, gave her a big hug, and asked her to keep the ladies at bay (Yuy is a pre-Op transvestite, not a looker at all, but does look out for us). 'Course, it helps that my buddy b/f'd the lady that shoots the darts, and I get along well with friend of hers there (though I haven't b/f'd her).
The Firecat is known for high pressure tactics, and can be a clip joint if you are not careful. Not for the faint of heart, but, overall, I've enjoyed the carnival there.

Clip joints will pad your bill with exhorbatant tabs, then expect you to pay. If you make a fuss, they will send their bouncers after you to rough you up. Best remedy is pay, then go immediately to the Tourist Police, complain in a polite voice, and request the police to accompany you back to the joint for a refund. You may not get everything you should, but if you are calm and polite (tough when being ripped off), you will fair better. If you think of it as a game, it makes the whole experience easier to handle.

Damn! Wish I had done my research before going to the ping-pong shows! Just my two cents: Firecat/Wildcat is a rip-off. They say no cover charge, but then they ask for 300 baht per show per person. The shows are probably about five minutes each so that bill can add up quickly. My friend and my girlfriend drank our drinks quickly and exited. No problems at the King's group bars. Had the night been planned in advance, I would have done some searchin' on the web, but oh well...

Anyone have a recent update to this topic - i.e., what 2nd floor bars to avoid, which ones are good, as of now?
I'll be there at the end of this month, this time with some friends who are relying on me to show them around.
This past March '05, Queens Castle II was great. I BF'ed 2 girls, including the streamer girl. Both girls aimed to please, and really seemed to appreciate being BF'ed out of the place. The shows were great too, but I think they started at 11 pm. Going there early drew the harassment of the razor blade girl for a 100 baht tip, which was kinda spooky since I was there by myself and didn't know what other concealed weapons she could pull out of you know where.
Safari, on the other hand, looked dead, and they tried to charge me 100 baht cover and 100 baht for the beer as soon as I got in the door even though the usher at the foot of the stairs said no cover.
