However I talked to him yesterday (before I read your post) and he was just off the the airport and back to farangland for a couple of weeks so it may take him a while to respond.

Perhaps he was answering mail from a mobile phone. 
In the end, I'm not sure it matters to me what he does about this. I really don't intend to go back to the bar. I just wanted to post the experience to the forum, and of course, to let him know what happened.

Yeah, let us know - would be interesting to see if the attitude has changed.
Otherwise, it might be worthwhile to print out the original article, and when going by Tony's, dropping it off with the manager, and leaving without consuming anything.
