At least half the customers in the Thermae these days are Japanese, and a lot of the girls there seem to be exclusivley focussed on them. I asked one of the girls why she preferred Japanese men and without blinking an eye she replied "because a Farang will give 1500 or 2000, a Japanese will give 3000 baht". Fair enough, I guess.
The current Thermae is kind of an imposter anyways. The original closed in 1996 but I suspect a good portion of the Japanese customers think the current one is the original. Their guidebooks probably don't mention this.
I've been thinking of avoiding the place because it might confuse my memories of the original which, when I was going there in the early to mid-nineties, was an absolute blast!

At Thermae?! I thought bkkz's rates quoted above more appropriate there, though it's been about 3 yrs since I visited. And last time it was a 3-some, I paid what was asked, 1000 for each girl, 19 and 20 yrs old each cute as pie. Went back to my pad, we shared a couple beers and broke in my new kingsize mattress in all positions. They thought it was great and left their numbers afterward.
If I only I had that 9 inches, I'd think it was great too! But at the time that was normal pricing. Hey isn't the emergency number in Thailand 191? Egads!

Actually I think she's just being polite. Just take a closer look at most of the farangs next time your down there.
