Kenneth, I think I was the person you chatted with at the bar. I remember you not getting the Happy Hour price. Since I stay at Centre Point, Soi 10, on my monthly visits, I was hoping for a nice nightcap bar. This person will never make it anywhere.

I stay Soi 10 also. This place was always closed. I thought a pity, but maybe not, since I didn't have to waste any time on it.

Cozy has a happy hour on cocktails, so on the occasion I've been stuck there (damn those stairs) I will meet my girl there for a few heartstarters....economical.
The rest of Soi10, well it is a quiet street. I'm happy about that because I invested there last Feb...don't need any bar riff-raff hanging round ha ha ha ha.
As I understand it that park used to house an infamous bar area that I never had the peasure of investigating.
Also in So10, a good tailor near Cozy..Burmese bloke; Great travel agent ground floor Sukhumvit Park apartments; oh & don't forget the crazy woman who tries to sell you cigarette butts.
It's a nice street, too bad I can't afford to live there ha ha ha (yet).

Back to soi 10, or rather the little subsoi on the left, across from Chuvit Garden, which is looking much better than that property was a few years ago, after Chuvit's night of beer bar destruction. Now the garden is a great place to take a break from Sukhumvit Road. Soft music replaces traffic noise as one walks thru the garden. Lots of cute toddlers toddling by. The air smells fresher. It even seems cooler.
But I digress.
In the pool bar across Soi 10, I was surprised to be latched onto by a really cute girl of 18, less than a third my age. She had three balloons tied to her hair in back, so the balloons looked like flapping angel wings. She was pouting a bit about having to wear these silly balloons, but the mamasan and I both strongly encouraged her to keep the balloons on, since she looked even cuter that way. I hope she was actually 18, since she often acted like a 12-year-old. Kind of silly, but kind of sexy too. She did cough too much, tho I never saw her smoking. A lot of fun and well worth the two drinks I bought her. Two other ladies who claimed to be 19, looked older and were definitely larger. No other customers at happy hour on Wed. Two decent pool tables are upstairs. The guy attendant shoots pool fairly well.
My girl tried to play pool, but she was pretty hopeless. She finally took the balloons off when we went upstairs, out of mamasan's gaze. She enjoyed much more batting a balloon across a pool table in a kind of ping-pong. When she insisted on tying a balloon to my ankle so she could burst it with her high heel, it was time to check-bin. I was still the only customer in this odd bar, had been having too much fun and had not been keeping track of the bills. Worried about possible bill padding. Had 2 beers, supposedly at happy hour, bought 3 LDs, played a bunch of pool games; the bill came to 650 baht. I wasn't complaining.

Probably tourists were not welcome in that bar if the owners / managers intended it to be a place for locals only. From what you say, Kenneth, it seems as if the managers did not mind the local guys lingering on one beer for an hour even while they (managers) could see that more profitable customers were awaiting a turn and had even bought another drink. The "happy hour finnit" treatment might have been a signal to you that they couldn't care less.
Welcome to the league of gentlemen who have faced discrimination !!

Any bar where almost as soon as you buy a girl a drink, the waitress or mamasan starts pressuring you to pay the barfine. And also any bar in which the mamasan has a prewritten card with bf prices, st prices and lt prices, I mean, really?
I ran into both these experiences in GSpot at Nana, that and most of the girls being chubby/ugly made me jet quickly, all I heard behind me as I left was "wait, you didn't finish your beer!"so it gets my nomination as one of the worst bars.
Another pet peeve is the waitress lifting your beer to see if you need another one. Instead of being so invasive, how about being a little more observant and notice when the customer has finished their beer. But then again, when you have a commodity that brings in customers in droves regardless of ambiance, decor, and pricing, who needs customer service?

And yet another pet peeve is getting those ugly bitches coming up to you and bothering you, eagerly looking for a lady drink, just when you're trying to enjoy the show sipping a cool beer.
