The Sports Academy websites states
"Equipped with 10 brand new Brunswick professional pool tables, amenities also include 3 private rooms you can rent by the hour, staff included. Rooms are ideal for a group of friends to have a fun night."
Does this mean the staff is "available"?

Those pool cues are too long and you can only use one end effectively, unless you break the cue in two, and that will cost you.
Anyone confirm that the Red Parrot is dead or have they opened up somewhere else ?

the rumour was that they will re-open in the same building one floor higher, but that did not materialize in the last few months, we opened in the 4th floor opposite foodland 3 large tables, not a pool hall though.

At least they have one pool table on the gound floor and another whispered about upstairs.

I finally tried "Ball in Hand" in soi4 last week: the tables were OK but I did not like too much the straight room which conveyed something like a "factory" atmosphere.
My TG also showed me the "Swan Bar" a bit further away on Soi 4 (16 tables) whose wooden deco and atmosphere were more congenial from my point of view.
If you want to play with friends, both allow to rent a table by the hour.
Could not try "Sports Academy" as it looked closed from the Asoke BTS station.
I would have also liked to try a (thai) location not on Sukhumvit if time had permitted..

sports acedemy shut down for some reason. Looked nice but was never busy and the rates seemed high.

Sports Academy will be moving to a new location. They will be moving to the 2nd floor of RuamChitt Plaza above Bush Garden (and Thermae). They plan to open in the beginning of next month.
