Breathless - don't know about the Champions League etc as Im always far too busy at that time in the morning.
You get a live Premier game (a 3 p.m k' off uk time - in the evening on Saturdays).
Whats upset me is that not one of our US bro's has risen to the bait about my comments about their "football" - come on guys

HaoleBoy: Football (USA) in Thailand is a tough one because of the time difference since it is (I believe) 11 hrs difference to kick off. So for the 1PM games, it starts on BKK-Monday at Midnight and the 4PM games are at 3AM. Thats before Daylight Savings Time kicks in the US (October), then it is a 12 hr difference. When I was in BKK last Nov, I would wake up on Monday morning at 7AM to catch ESPN's NFL PrimeTime to catch the recap of all the games (live) and then the Sunday Night Game would come on right after that, so you can definitely watch the Sunday Night Game (if you get ESPN) live at 9AM on Monday morning. You can also listen to the games via the internet by going through the live scoring option of NFL.Com Believe me, I love football, and I am willing to give it up for the joys of LOS (and this is when my team is actually doing well!!!). As far as bars that show it, you may be SOL since that would require them to stay open until 7AM. Learn to live with it.

Good info. on where I might be able to catch the games. If I can not see them live, then I guess I'd better make sure to stay in a hotel that has ESPN ...*singing* "da na na da na na"!! ha ha ha!!
Oh .. because regular cnn or espn world news only shows weak sports like cricket and the "other" football!! *wink* There's a playfull comment for you, whitespider!! ha ha ha ha!!

i used to watch the premiership games in one of my local go-go's.
thai t.v. usually showed one live,21:00 kick off and then immediately afterwards delayed transmission of another game.
was hard to have to sit in a bar for 4 hours and watch the football and the girls dancing.
breathless.
when my team was playing in the champions league,all thoughts of a girl went out the window.
they used to kick off just as all the bars were closing and i normally had a girl on my arm at the time and heading back to the room.
however i know an irish bar in patong which would have a lock-in,pull the shutters down and post a thai outside to look for the boys in brown.
if the girl did'nt like football or,god forbid,bored,i would give her the key and let her go back to the room and go to bed.
if my team won,she usually got a rude awakening when i got back.
i was happy and ready for the 04:00 f_ck.
the girls could never understand why i wanted to watch the football and not interact with them.
football is more important when your team is playing,you can play with a girl anytime.
plus football lasts longer then me when i'm with a girl.

I admire your discipline in ignoring the scoring opportunities at home in favour of games on the box. Obviously you are a regular marksman with a sizeable total. I will be on my first outing and desperate to get off the mark. For me hopefully it will be the slow build up and then the finishing shot a la Thailand (I mean Brazil).
I hope none of our US brethern read this ,but there is so much football on the box many of the games can be like watching paint dry. I would be hoping to catch highlights preferably the next day if possible in blissful ignorance of the result. Ideally I would have lasted for the full 90 minutes the previous night and not been taken off early on.
At the end of the day you have to take each game as it comes and hope you will be over the moon at the final whistle, with your Tilac saying "the boy done well".

football on the box is from 21:00-23:00,bars don't close for another 3 hours.
more then enough time to find the girl and score that winning hat-trick.

Edit: I googled "Sports Bars Bangkok" and found a place called Gulliver Travels Tavern on Khoa San Road. I'm guessing this is GT?
