Why are you getting so arsey with Raatchasii for? He is perfectly entitled to come to this board and advise other members where he found racial discrimination. He is also perfectly entitled to be pissed off that he is refused entry to somewhere based on the colour of his skin.
I felt his post were pretty fair and he didn't come across as being PC or whiney. He used little smily icons etc. Even when he named bars that he felt discriminated he added the caveat that things change.
If you disagree with him that is fine, put forward your argument but you initially abused him totally unecessarily, accusing him of being over-sensitive and that he should "put up or f*** off". Why should he? That is condoning racism. That is the sort of thing that the BNP in the UK say to ethnic minorities when they complain about racism. It isnt right in the UK and it isn't right here. I personally felt he handled the situation at Rainbow 4 very well. He did not lose his temper, attempted to spoke polite Thai and reason with the doorman and then walked away.
You also argued that we should not name bars that discriminate because people make a living from these bars. So what? I personally dont want to give my money to racists so I appreciate knowing where they are. Following on from your argument we should not name any bars where people were ripped off or got a starfish from because "people make a living from these bars". The owners are entitled to run their business as they see fit. I am entitled to spend my money as I see fit, and I dont want to give it to racist bars.
BTW I am British and I dont particularly hate Germans (unless we are playing them at football  ) and having a Union Jack outside a pub does not mean "Germans keep the f*** out" at all (although in some pubs I will accept that it means all non anglo saxon white guys f*** off).
Finally, your quote that "I accept that I am second-class scum in this country and just put up with it." says far more about your view of yourself than it does about anyone else.

I too am British and I like Germans so Pezang is way out with is all encompassing 'rules' the Union Jack outside a bar isn't to ward off Jerrys, it is to let daft tourists know they can get english conversation and possibly a plate of egg and chips...
Surely a huge swastika would have a better effect at keeping squareheads out?

Basically you should not criticize unless those that you are critisizing are allowed to rebut your criticisms. I am not a bar owner, but I feel some bars are being singled out unfairly, and I am just acting on their behalf. Some of the bars listed in this thread operate honestly. Just using the same entitlements you have stated above to even things out a little. It really seems all one way on this thread and a belief the customer is being victimised. Sorry but I just don't buy it.

You are acting on the bars behalf??? Why? Are we going to start dragging Noi and Lek and all the other bar girls to the board so they can defend themselves against accusations of providing crap service? This would be a very boring board if criticisms are not allowed. We all accept that all criticisms are based on that persons interpretations and that there may be another side of the story. As I mentioned earlier Raatchasii named bars that had been mentioned as operating a 'Members Only' policy, as you describe it. He also said that this can change depending on high/low season or how busy the bar is. That is fair in my opinion. He also recounted an incident that happened to him. That is fair also. Do we really want this board to only have threads like the Eden one where only back slapping is allowed and anyone who criticises gets jumped on?
If you feel the need to defend these poor bars then you are perfectly entitled to do so. However I felt the manner in which you attacked Raatchasii, for example calling him Ratshitsi, was unnecesary. You basically said that he was a whinging, Politically Correct, professional victim looking for racism where it didnt exist. Well I believe that refusing entry to someone based on their race is racist.
Responding to peoples criticisms by putting forward a logical, counter-argument is acceptable. Telling people to put up or f*** off is not an intelligent counter-argument.

They are not impinging on anyone's rights. The bars are private property. If they don't like the way you look or talk, it is their right to stop you from entering. I am afraid it is not racism or discrimination, it is respect for individual rights. The problem with this thread is the belief that you have been vicitimised. That is your problem, not the bar owners. I believe you should not single out bars on this thread for such behaviour. Like I said, they are running their establishment without cheating their customers, to the best of my knowledge anyway, and don't deserve to be singled out. They are not over-charging, or robbing you blind. They just don't want to do business with you.
I'll leave you all to fuss about nothing then. Bye.
