According to a friend in the retail customer research trade the main difference is in QC and sourcing of constituents. As a result Chang is a) cheaper and b) less consistent. At least it is not Bintang "yes we add formaldehyde, it is to kill the bugs".

arlsburg is my beer of chose while in Thailand. However I love to see a few more drinks like MIKES hard lemonade. SMIRNOFF ICE or HOOCH. BEER is looseing its appel to me makes my stomach all foamy LOL and wine coolers like breezer I never really did like

Beer Chang is my choice of beer for several reasons:
1) 6.5% Alcohol content (now that's a mans beer)
2) I think it tastes better than Singha
3) It's cheaper than Heneiken (3 quarts 95 baht Chang)
4) Mixed with tomato juice it's really good
5) You never have to worry about sharing it with Farangs
Beer Chang is the best beer in Thailand not for it it's taste, not just for it's alcohol content, and not just for it's cheap price. It's a combination of the above that make it the best selling beer in Thailand. LONG LIVE BEER CHANG!

However..... when I have mentioned Chang beer to Thais they all make an ugly face. Recently even the bartenders at a place that I frequent.. the place had closed and I stayed to chat with the staff while they cleaned. A couple of the bartenders started to have a drink on their own and we started to talk about beer. At the mention of Chang they said it was bad because it gave them a headache.
Personally, if I am having more than 3 or 4 beers I do not care so much what I drink. After the 4th one, I forget about taste. If I am having only 1, 2 or 3beers, I may think about taste first before ordering.
