Some ideas about the WS:
1. Concerning Khun Taffy, the landlord of the NSOP = New Square One Pub = Hairy Pub:
Taffy gets his liquid ration for the day nearly every day. Normally he is beyond good and evil between 4 and 5 in the afternoon. Then he withdraws into his rooms to sleep off his drunkenness.
But he is a great guy. He takes good care of his customers and his girls. He is a good host and entertainer.
2. The guys:
The hardcore of the “squaronians” are mostly Americans. I estimate the number of those hardcore members of the "squaronians" to be 12 to 15 people. Some of them are pensioners and Vietnam war veterans drinking away their pensions. Others are in the oil business and some of them are local expats working and living in Bangkok. And then there are some lucky guys living on unearned incomes.
I know some of them personally and over the years I found out that they are all great and tough guys like Mekong Kurt and Richard, the painter. And sometimes you can meet Mr. C.G. Moore having a chat with all those guys from the WS researching for a new character and a new story for his Calvino series.
3. Communication:
What disturbs me a little bit is their broad American accent. Some of them cannot change into “high English” like it is spoken on the BBC. When Tony Blair speaks on German radio or TV I can understand every word and every sentence of his speech because he articulates it like it is done in Oxford or Cambridge.
So there is this horrible language barrier because some of the squaronions cannot change into high English, what is a real pity! But this is my individual problem.
Conclusion:
But nevertheless I had many adventurous and amusing afternoons at the bars of WS together with some Singhas and some very sweet hearted girls.

I think there are more than a few expats who are drinking more than their pensions away; I see a good few who regularly sign the tab instead of paying on the spot. Hope the owners collect before their livers give out.
Here is my take on WS for what it is worth: I make no judgments and this is just one mans opinion.
Silver Dollar: Terrific food; the cook is absolutely great! The girls are all damaged goods; meaning they all have children; except for the one with the Yoga perfect body who is in Australia at the moment with her real boyfriend (no names please), and they remind me of putting quarters into a jukebox; as long as you buy them drinks and they all drink shots, the smiles keep coming until the music stops; that means when the whiskey hits their stomach’s) ; No drinks, No smiles, and No company! Of course if you can keep up with them then you probably don’t really care what their bodies look like either.
A fun place with lots of fun loving girls available.
Good Country and Western music.
They all ask for 2000 ST. At least in Cowboy you can see their bodies before you buy and that are not that expensive for better quality.

Wild Country: Good place for a BJ in the booth. Keep the cola’s coming and then when you are finished ( if you finish) you may realize that Lolita’s was a better option.
BTW keep track of your tab; they make mistakes sometimes and it is never in your favor.

Cheers Bar: Great girls! Very pleasant and when you buy them a drink they actually give you their undivided attention. Spend time with the customer and do not drink shots for the most part. They are a nice crew and it was unfortunate that ‘Pet’ has gone to Australia for three months. She is great and I wish her the very best. Chris the owner is genuinely a very nice man and he takes very good care of the girls. Highly recommended.

there's one bartender there that I used to like, nice body when she started, now she complains that she's getting fat, it's no wonder with the amount of COKE she drinks with her whiskey & she drinks a lot of whiskey after begging the customers for a drink

what I hate is when they stop the action to make themselves a drink & come back to announce to everyone that you lost your boner. Of course, there was no fluff girl while you were away for several minutes & I was faced with the Dragon Queen

The Green Room is beside Cheers, not bad. Used to have some gals from there come see me on Sat/Sun mornings when they finished their shift
not sure if Crystal Bar is still in between Cheers & Green Room. They get some cuties, but I think they are under-age as they can never produce ID
there's a few other places around there on the way to Taffy's, I can't even remember the name of some, and some change name so often it doesn't matter
Bourbon Street has some good grub, but I tire of the Yuppie crowd that hangs out in there, after they read about it in the local "You're in BKK" brochure
not many know this but the owner started out in Patpong with George who now owns Texas Lone Star
after they moved to the Square, Bourbon Street was opened & they parted ways
Almost directly across the street from Taffy's is Denny's Corner Bar. I've had some nice times in there just watching the passers-by while chatting with friends, & some of the birds in there are hot too.

Ok, I said I would write a brief report if I stopped in. I stopped in twice. The bar opens at 10am and I visited the first time at about 11am on July 11. Taffy, the owner was sitting in a booth drinking coffee and one or two other customers were having a beer. One fellow arrived directly from the airport with his luggage and immediately hooked up with a very cute little thing and left a half hour later. I liked the feel of the bar. There were about 6-7 girls there. I found all but one acceptable and the one I didn't like was just not to my taste. She was not ugly or old. This whole thing about the attractiveness of women is so very subjective. Any of the girls I saw would not have looked out of place at most SC clubs. English skills varied from poor to good. I sat with one young lady for two or three drinks. She was attractive, good body, clean, friendly and spoke English at a reasonable level. Asked me early on if I wanted to take her out. I said no but she continued to treat me well.
My next visit was on Sunday morning right after opening and I stayed for an hour or so. One girl was in the bar and she was very attractive but the only other customer in the bar was trying to play grab ass with her and she was not happy about it. He bought her a drink and felt entitled to free access to all the goodies and she was not having it. He left after a few attempts. Her english seemed poor but she really does have a good body and was very pretty. Another girl showed up later, also very attractive and looked quite young. I am not suggesting she didn't look legal, only that she looked maybe 20ish. Taffy came down before I left and was dismayed to see that so many girls had not shown up for work. He was talking about getting fined on Saturday night, making a little money and going off to party instead of coming to work. He seems to be quite affable. I did not see him later in the day so can't comment on what others have reported, but he was friendly as you would expect a bar owner to be.
I did not experience naked girls on the pool table but I was there early in the morning. As for someone's report that a BJ can be had in the bar I don't know. Maybe when things get going full swing that can be worked out. The girls that I saw did not seem that aggressive and to get a BJ in that bar would be a very public event. I have had such an experience at many bars including many of the WS bars written about here but always the booth areas are set up more privately or at the very least the lights are a lot lower.
Anyway, I liked the feel of the bar and the prices of the drinks. I can see this being a place to use up daylight on future visits.
