Seems really strange that they askked you to pay up-front!!
I tried out Josephine's for the 1st time a few days ago. The beer prices were high (150b for a Heineken). But I found the food good and the staff were very attentive. I'd go back again if the beer was cheaper

Yes it was very strange being asked for cash up front - the Italian ( or so he said ) floor manager said it was management policy and that he had advised his boss it was a bad idea.
As an aside, I see someone is going to open about 16 ST rooms on floor 3 soon !!

Why would somebody want to pay for food before they have eaten it? If it is of sub-standard quality, they've got your money and you've lost any bargaining power. I would rather refuse to eat there than accept that principle. Next, we'll be expected to pay up front before we screw the girl!

Try across the Sukhumvit in Soi Zero. First bar on the left is called Morgan Bar. Nice place to hang. Not a lot of girls but the ones there are always above average and sometimes far above average. Friendly place. Across the soi is another bar with loud music and some nice lookers.

The ST rooms in Sukhumvit 1 Plaza are now open! I took a look around them yesterday. They certainly seem very clean, with a fridge, TV, hot/cold shower, free water and.. er... a bed There is a reception desk just by the stairs/lift on floor 3. I think the charge is 300 baht for 2 hours.
I'm just completing a website for Sukhumvit 1 Plaza, and I'll add some photos of the rooms and facilities.

I was in Soi 1 bars in July and found them annoying. The worst part is having to run the guantlet. The hostess girls are super aggressive. They attack you every time you go to the toilet! I was dreading the whole thing everytime I had to go to the toilet.
The beers are expensive and if you buy a beer for the girl, it is 180 baht!! Not sure if same same in all bars. Overall I'd rather hangout in GT for pool and Beer Garden for chicks.
