HappyGuy: relax. The greatest compliment is to be told ur brand new couch looks 2nd hand because 2nd hand implies lived in....think about it. As for Suk 1 and its longevity, a few thoughts. There are punters and there are punters. There are bars and there are bars. Profound, not. Suk 1 is likey to appeal to a different client base than NEP, Cowboy blah blah. It is clean, it is quieter but it also has a good service ethic so far as I have seen. Add ons like free wifi make a hell of a difference. I have also noticed quite a lot of girls that I knew from other bars who have turned up to work there. The girls usually know where the money is to be made. Like HappyGuy says, making money takes time. Some bars will fall away but there is a market for Soi 1...the bars just need to work it out. The Salsa bar is a good example......only been there once, on the opening night but it sells itself as a niche bar and has a good chance because of that. And I will go again when I get back to BKK in the fall.
My guess is that the market for Suhk 1 is 1) slightly older farang 2) resident expats like myself 3) those people wanting to drink, to have fun but in a slightly less wild and hassled climate than Suhk 4.
And HappyGuy, if u know of any bars coming up for sale there, let me know. Now that my other companies are up and running I am thinking a little about some longer term bar investment, in so far as anything is long term in Thailand!

Approx 3 month ago me and the girlfriend took a girl in one of the beerbar of Soi 1, she was young, tall and had a real nice body. Very fun girl but she clearly has no clue of what to do in bed with a couple (never did that before)
All in all still an OK experience.
Dr Love: Everytime I read you you are telling everyone how such and such places are not good. In fact so far I cant remember reading any good report at all from you...can you please tell us where you go when you want to have a good time? I know you live in LOS since a very long time and speak very good Thai, so it would be nice to learn usefull things from you instead of your never-ending "this place is bad, this is no good, I dont like this...". Please dont take this as a personal attack, I trully mean no harm.

Soi 1 is the soi 13 of last year. Enjoyed it then and enjoyed soi 1 back in Sep. Very good time in the Godiva Bar and BF'd a wonderful lady.
I discovered it by asking a FL in soi 7 BG where did the soi 13 bars go?
BTF members stop in a have a beer there are some gems to be had--I hope they get established.

Yeah, its still up, but 1 or 2 of the bars closed. including morning night 2. I dont know of any others that closed.
And jules on the roof is still going good last time I checked. about 2 days ago.

Oops! Sorry about the website! I'm busy changing web-servers to a 'faster' host. I will get the website up asap!
I was aware that MN2 had closed. My understanding is that the owner was not happy at the high rent (It has to be said that rent-rates are too high!). So, they upped and left, and took all their nice furnishings and woodwork with them!
The long rainy season has not helped but reports from my bar-manageress says things are looking more busy now!

Bar kits...awesome idea...like those MacDonalds kits you see all over the USA, great in Florida, damn cold in Buffalo.
