I've been to Big Mango about 10 times over the last 2 years. My impressions:
I've never seen more than 3 customers (aside from me) in this bar at one time. That includes upstairs in the pool area.
I could see the Cat House - which is directly across from Big Mango on the same floor. I could also see about 2 of the beer bars on the ground floor and the go-gos on the 2nd/3rd floor that are on the left hand side as you enter NEP. The Cat House does have better views since I could see almost all of the 2nd and 3rd floors and a large part of the ground floor.
The hamburger is okay, especially if you buy it during happy hours when it is cheaper. Hamburger taste is subjective, as OAH said. I happen to like the 45 baht burger at Kiss in Pattaya better.
I've never had a girl come up to me at Big Mango. I have had one of the LBs come up (and politely sent him/her away). Not an issue for me since I don't go to the Big Mango for the girls. Lots of other places in NEP for this.
Bottom line: I'd go back to the Big Mango again and eat their hamburgers.

Dr stated his opinion nothing more, nothing less... How he saw it. It wasn't exactly a flaming post warning potential punters! Yes, perception is not fact we all understand that, and the closest you will ever get to this is by reading various reviews and amounting circumstancial evidence to build your own informed opinion

- This bar has very few customers.
(Some people may see that as a bonus if they want to have a few quiet drinks)
- View is pretty limited (Cat House has better views).
(Not exactly a show stopper comment.)
- The hamburger is so so and overpriced (after tasting the 45 baht bacon-cheese-egg at Kiss, Pattaya)
( Im sure people are not really going to be influenced by this, are they? Dr isn't the first member to mention the famous pattaya burger)
- Girls are so-so, seem to ignore most of the customers.
(He could have said alot worse then so-so Most people have already stated on this thread that they believe the BG's are told not to hassle customers, again different strokes for different folks might again align to the punter wanting a quiet drink without being hassled by 5 BG's when they walk in the door.)
This post was nothing more then a opinion, reviewing a venue or a service is all about 'Your view of the world'
Its up to individuals reading it too decipher its validity too what 'They value' in a venue......
If someone was to write "mango is too loud, smokey, and too much silicon breast"
there might just be someone who says "Shit yeah" " I love loud music, Im a smoker so don't give a toss and hey I love fake boobs"
As for your deluded comment accusing Dr of tainting Mango for the benifit of other bars, what a load of sh*t.....
I grant the doctor with more intelligence and command of the english language to make a more convincing argument for not visting the place if that was his intent........ Although whilst you accuse the doctor of having hidden intentions, I can't help but think that your emotive response lends itself to the likely hood that the only hidden intentions lie in your post....
PS For the record I will be trying out mango for a quiet beer on my next trip!

I visited (planned by comments on here) Mango bar on my Febuary trip. It was as Dr Love stated,,, girls average / less than average looking, quiet bar ( few customers) to have a drink or 5,, no hassles as in the girls wait for you to indicate interest rather than mauling the customer, a burger that was better than average, efficient service.
All round a good place to have a quiet drink, a burger and a few games of pool before kicking-on.
The above is the facts as I experienced, it most certainly is not designed to "flame" the Mango bar.
P.S I met one of the owners and he was a nice guy, a bit like his bar, laid back.

HairyOld444 I don't see anywhere in MG's comments about "ugly girls". I think what he said was average. Now, from their website however, I personally feel Nu** is pretty and has a smokin' body. And bring someone else out of retirement and you've got yourself a couple of lovely TBG's! IMHO

As an aside, I highly recommend Big Mango as a "chill" bar,, somewhere you can get a good drink a decent feed and have time to work out which of the lunatic gals in NEP you actually wanted.
A no hassle bar in the middle of KAOS,,. Thumbs up from here.

just got back from LOS and was relieved to report military has no effect on "business" in BKK
anyhow, I went to Big Mango bar one night b4 the start of my hunt and found only 2 customers on the 1st level and 3 more playing pool upstairs
as it was early in the evening I guess it was PAR for the course.
sat down and had a beer and checked out the scenery off the balcony and watched the "parade" go by as the HEAVENS opened up and came down for about 30 minutes.
sat with one of the girls and had a good conversation, NUT, I think was her name
i found the bar to be very laid back and quiet
think it will be a good place for your cruzing time while in bkk dcutter
